ABOUT THE ROLE

At 3Degrees, we help companies around the globe take action toward a decarbonized future. We’re looking for an experienced, solution-oriented procurement professional for this newly-created role with experience in the services industry.  The need for it reflects both company growth and our commitment to growing sustainably.  This role will build a centralized product sourcing system with sustainability and social responsibility at the center of the decision-making process. Initially working as an individual contributor this role may evolve to leading a team over time.

The role will report to the COO. This is a full-time position preferably based out of San Francisco, CA, or Portland, OR.  A remote full-time location will be considered for highly experienced candidates.WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Collaborate with key stakeholders such as IT, People Ops, Legal, and Finance to develop, maintain and ensure compliance with all purchasing contract policies for a variety of vendors and suppliers
• Support vendor vetting, onboarding, managing ongoing relationships, reviewing and managing contracts and licenses.  This work should lead to the development of a network of sustainable and diverse vendors
• Gather, document, and analyze process improvements for 3Degrees’ full procurement lifecycle, from product sourcing to vendor management, license management, and accounts payable
• Maintain a corporate vendor directory and seek ways to improve spending operations; remove outdated vendors and scout for new ones, conduct cost analysis and determine inactive subscription accounts, and support the transition to an ERP system
• In collaboration with internal resource groups, support the company’s annual GHG inventory and reporting processes, driving effective planning, ensuring adequate resources are allocated, and meeting deliverable timelines
• Lead the next steps of 3Degrees’ net-zero strategy implementation, including defining the scope of work and managing the work of service providers that are commissioned for the task

ABOUT YOU

• 5+ years experience in a procurement and/or purchasing function within a service industry; preferred 3+ years experience in a purchasing role in a company that has a focus on sustainability
• A strong desire to help embed B Corp values into procurement systems and sustainability goals
• Experience with software license management/service management platforms
• Experience leading and/or significantly contributing to the collation of data to support the maintenance of compliance or certification standards such as GHG accounting, B Corp, etc a plus
• Previous experience with an ERP system or technology platforms for purchasing
• Experience with software license management/service management platforms
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
• Effective collaborator, comfortable working across all levels of an organization
• Confident, independent and able to work autonomously without need for supervision

HOW WE DEFINE SUCCESS

Within 60 days

• You have learned your way around the company, understand all the key tasks and their relative importance, and mapped out a plan for implementation.  You understand 3Degrees’ vendors, requirements, sustainability goals, and current procurement processes.  You have begun to take responsibility in these areas, and have begun to design processes to optimize these functions

Within 120 days

• Company-wide sustainable procurement processes are substantially in place; you have a good idea of what remains to be done and what resources will be required to get there

After a year

• You have launched a successful, centralized procurement function and ensured 3Degrees is on track to meeting stated sustainability goals
