Job Summary
The Standards Claims Specialist, as part of the Standards Team, will support the oversight of our credible claims system both internally (e.g. system operations, revisions, internal alignment) and externally (e.g. stakeholder engagement, resource development, communications). The specialist will serve as the first point of contact for organizations looking for guidance when communicating about our standards and will play a critical role in ensuring the proper understanding and implementation of our policies and procedures for making claims and labeling according to the Standards Claims Policy and Standards Logo Use Specifications.
The Standards Claims Specialist will have a solid understanding of credible claims and communications and will collaborate with external stakeholders and internal teammates on important work and improvements relating to claims management, while supporting claims and labeling system maintenance across all standards.
Like all roles at Textile Exchange, this role will be home-based. Textile Exchange is a US-based, remote-working organization with a global team. This position is open to domestic and international candidates. The majority of the Standards Claims team is based in North America, and some overlap of working hours with the US Pacific Standard Time zone is required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as a content lead for the policies and procedures for making claims about Textile Exchange standards and using the associated logos;
Support the Standards Claims Manager on revisions of our standards claims and labeling policies, including planning and conducting meetings with an external labeling task force and other key stakeholders, drafting/revising criteria, facilitating public consultations, and finalization and publication of new versions of the documents;
Collaborate with the Standards Engagement and Communications teams to support the creation and dissemination of claims and labeling resources, tools, and guidance as well as answer inquiries and questions related to making claims;
Collaborate with the Standards and Assurance teams to support information needed for claims/trademark use monitoring and calibration of the Standards Claims Policy, as well as claims-related requirements in the CCS and other policies and procedures for use by certification bodies, including answering questions from certification bodies;
Collaborate with the Assurance and Data & Technology teams on the implementation and maintenance of claims-related data requirements and systems in Textile Exchange’s Trackit™ shared data measurement system;
Conduct trainings and meetings as needed to support comprehension of claims and labeling according to our policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned, including support on shorter-term projects such as updates to documents and webpages, running a labeling pilot, and preparing for revisions of the claims policy.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
Experience working with voluntary standards and/or verification programs; working with standards that are part of the ISEAL community is preferred.
Possess foundational understanding of credible sustainability claims and trademark use related to certification.
Confident and highly capable of developing projects, managing deadlines, and delivering on workplans.
Dedicated customer service mindset, able to work with different stakeholders, comfortable with ambiguity and dynamic environment.
Highly literate, with excellent written and grammatical skills in English to provide clear and concise writing in standards and guidance.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, & Word, and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
A driven individual with a strong work ethic and high degree of autonomy; self-starting and proactive.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Able to hit the ground running – you will need to have experience of working in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
Motivated, energetic, determined, and with strong interpersonal skills.
Able to produce a high standard of work across all forms of media.
Honest, professional, responsible, discreet, and able to act with the utmost confidence at all times.
Flexibility of working across multiple time zones and ability to overlap with the North American time zones for parts of the workday.
Experience working at an international organization.
Employment Package
Reports to: Standards Claims Manager
Full Time Position, 40 Hours a Week
Location: Virtual/Remote, preferred to be based
Salary Range: $50-$60K USD
