We are seeking a new team member for our Phoenix, AZ office. As a valuable member of the team, you will support our growing group of scientists and partner directly with an Environmental Professional to conduct site assessments across the US. This position will also support National Environmental Policy Act, and other resource planning and permitting projects. In this position, you will be trained to actively support projects prior to construction. Office work may include assisting with data interpretation and tabulations, scientific report writing and plans. Fieldwork may include site assessments and data collection.

This position is an hourly, full-time position working in a remote or hybrid fashion from anywhere in the US.  This position can be hired at the following levels:

• Assistant Staff Environmental Scientist – Typically with at least 1 year of relevant experience and expertise.
• Staff Environmental Scientist – Typically with at least 2 years of relevant experience and expertise.
• Assistant Project Environment Scientist - Typically with at least 3 years of relevant experience and expertise.

What you will accomplish

• Assist with ASTM Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and online research.
• Assist in field responsibilities, which include site property assessments and local research.
• Conduct fieldwork, collect, organize, and transfer field data. Field work may include traveling and/or overnights.
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of an Environmental Professional, or Project Manager.
• Ability to interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
• Assist with field data QA/QC
• Assist with proposals, budgets, and project planning, and
• Perform other duties as needed.

Experience and qualifications for success

• 1-3 years of experience in environmental consulting.
• A bachelor’s degree in an environmental related field
• Proficient in MS Office products and strong technical writing skills
• Experience with ASTM Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
• Ability to manage multiple projects at a time while meeting deadlines.
• Valid driver’s license, good driving record and your own transportation.
• Ability to be flexible, travel and work outside in most weather conditions.
• Ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.

In a Phoenix office based position, an employee in the position of Assistant Staff Environmental Scientist can expect an hourly pay rate of $20.50 - 26.50/hr., and an employee in the position of Staff Environmental Scientist can expect an hourly range of $23.00-30.00/hr., and an employee in the position of Assistant Project Environmental Scientist can expect an hourly wage of $26.25-34.25/hr., depending on experience, geographic locations, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law.  SWCA Benefits can be found here:  https://www.swca.com/careers/totalrewards/benefits
