About the Roles

Ethos Urban is seeking a Senior Urbanist (Planner) to join our highly engaged team of urban development professionals in our Brisbane office. This role will suit a dynamic and passionate individual looking to take the next step in their professional career.

Our ideal candidate for this role will have planning experience working within the private or public sectors on complex urban development or infrastructure projects. They will also have experience in leading small teams, an outcomes-oriented attitude, excellent client liaison skills and a passion for working in a high performing organisation.

Key responsibilities

The roles we are seeking are Senior Urbanist (Planner) with a planning skillset. The successful candidate will:

• Have the opportunity to work across a diverse range of complex urban projects – from policy and plan making to managing and delivery DA success.
• Work with and learn from some of the best planners and urban professional in the business.
• Develop a broader skillset through working side by side with economist, urban designers, social planners, project managers and community & stakeholder engagement professionals.
• Work with a wide variety of clients including major landowners, public – sector agencies and corporate developers.
• Participate in all aspects of urban planning from proposal/EOI writing, research & analysis, plotting approvals pathways & processes, report writing and client management.
• Further develop your skills in project management, delegation and supervision through managing junior staff members.

This position would be suitable for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced highly collaborative environment. Our ideal candidate will be driven, proactive and results orientated with the ability to work collaboratively to achieve the best results. To be successful in this role they will require:

• A tertiary qualification in Planning or related degree/discipline (essential).
• 5+ years’ statutory or strategic planning experience within a professional services firm (desirable).
• In-depth knowledge of the Qld planning system.
• Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills and report writing skills.
• Effective planning & organising skills and experience managing projects – including managing teams up and down.
• Adaptability & flexibility in working across the organisation in various roles & responsibilities.
• The ability to builds rapport with clients & other project team members easily.
• A cooperative and flexible approach to working with other team members.
• A professional commitment to striving for excellence.
