Your opportunity
Dillon’s Planning & Design technical group is looking for a Senior Transportation Planner to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

Responsibilities
What your day will look like
Transportation Planning (97%)
- Project manage and/or contribute technical expertise to a variety of strategic transportation planning projects covering all modes of travel, such as Transportation Policy Studies, Transportation Master Plans, Secondary Plan Studies, Active Transportation Planning Projects, Environmental Assessments for Transportation Facilities, etc.
- Undertake project planning including the management of project scope, schedule, budget, technical quality, communications, health and safety and risk in accordance with Dillon’s procedures to meet business objectives
- Supervise and contribute to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring
- Write proposals and support other marketing and administrative efforts
- Travel as required to support project needs

- Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
- Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring
- Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
Qualifications
What you will need to succeed
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or similar field with a strong emphasis on transportation planning or engineering
- 4 years of professional experience in transportation planning/engineering and project coordination
- Strong communication, report writing, organization, interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and experience with MS Project
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Master’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or similar field with a strong emphasis on transportation planning or engineering
- 7 to 10 years of professional experience in transportation planning/engineering and project management, preferably in the consulting industry
- Qualified to practice in Ontario as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng), Registered Professional Planner (RPP), or eligible to be qualified within six months
Experience
Our preferred candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills, in both writing and oral communication, including experience in the preparation of technical memos and reports, proposals, client communications, and public/agency presentations. Additionally, candidates should be able to demonstrate knowledge in some, or all, of the following:
- Successful project delivery as a Project Manager, Project Coordinator, or Transportation planning lead
- Development of transportation policies for various levels of government
- Transportation Master Plans, Area Transportation Plans and/or Secondary Plans for medium and large communities/developments
- Environmental Assessment studies for municipal transportation facilities
- Planning for Active Transportation and TDM programs and infrastructure
- Multimodal analysis and evaluation
- Studies that integrate land use, transportation, and urban design analysis
- Coaching and guiding less experienced team members in project delivery
