ABOUT THE ROLE
3Degrees is a trusted partner for project developers across the country that generate carbon credits and low carbon fuel credits. As a Senior Project Manager you will work closely with our project partners, responsible for keeping these important projects on track for success. You will oversee some of our more complicated projects and pathways while meeting reporting and verification requirements. You will also manage 2-3 direct reports, helping them grow and develop while they help you manage our overall workload.
This role reports to the Director of Carbon Projects and is ideally based in one of our offices in San Francisco, CA or Portland, ME. We will consider a remote location within the United States for highly aligned candidates with the demonstrated level of expertise required for this role.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Develop monitoring plans consistent with rules and regulations in coordination with project partners
- Write Project Description Documents for new carbon offset projects, and Life Cycle Analysis reports for low carbon fuel pathways
- Process project data into calculation worksheets consistent with relevant methodologies, write the reports, and assemble packages ready for validation and verification
- Develop new data processing techniques for efficient, streamlined and transparent worksheets. Process project data into fuel pathway and/or offset calculations
- Own the management of the verification process for assigned projects for offsets and LCFS projects alike. Prepare verification packages and be responsible for interfacing with the registries and submitting necessary documents in a timely manner. Coordinate directly with verifiers and respond to all corrective action requests
- Oversee the status and progress of all our projects under select programs
- Represent 3Degrees in the field. Schedule and coordinate site visits with verifiers and project owners. Document photographic evidence of project equipment and layout as needed
- Keep projects on track by coordinating with project owners. Track the receipt of relevant project data and outstanding needs. Ensure such project monitoring procedures are planned and consistent with protocol requirements and are carried out according to plan
- Monitor key milestones to meet verification and reporting deadlines
ABOUT YOU
You have an analytical mindset and are detail-oriented. Tackling large datasets does not scare you away, nor does reviewing regulations to parse out your next steps. You are well-organized and your tasks rarely slip through the cracks. You have experience with reporting and verification protocols associated with carbon credit programs and/or low carbon fuel pathways. You are comfortable representing 3Degrees on calls or visits with dairy farmers and landfill operators. You are an excellent communicator with demonstrated people management and are highly-motivated to apply these skills to have a positive impact on our environment. An individual with the following experience and knowledge will have an excellent opportunity to thrive in this role:
- A minimum of 5 years of project manager experience
- Demonstrated experience successfully managing people
- Strong understanding of chemistry and other sciences
- Obsessive attention to detail in your work
- Familiarity with greenhouse gasses and emissions inventories
- Demonstrated experience with GHG programs (i.e. Low Carbon Fuel Standard, Cap-and-Trade, Climate Action Reserve, Clean Development Mechanism, etc.)
- Bachelor of Science at a minimum, typically within Engineering or other Physical Sciences, will be best suited for this role
- Expert in Excel, strong technical writing, significant quantitative and analytical skills, ability to engage clients and build relationships. Responsible for external communication
- Ability and desire to produce impeccably written deliverables

- You will have familiarized yourself with the 3Degrees process steps and your assigned projects and be able to independently execute on project deliverables
- Ability to build relationships and maintain credibility with verifiers
- Develop a good rapport with dairy farmers and other project owners over your first year of employment, expanding 3Degrees as a trusted partner and brand
- You are able to help your direct reports think through challenges and identify solutions.
- When your work is audited, it is difficult to find mistakes
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Compensation: The minimum and maximum salary for this position is $102,600 to $135,000 in the US

- Supplemental Pay: this position is also eligible for discretionary bonus programs including an annual team bonus pool and profit sharing
