Senior Project Manager

About the opportunity

SWCA is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our growing team based in the Four Corners region.  We are looking for a self-directed senior environmental project management professional who will manage large projects with a focus on oil and gas sector environmental planning, due diligence, permitting and excellent client care. The role includes management of natural resources, cultural resources, environmental permitting and compliance services across multiple projects. You must demonstrate the ability to manage projects effectively with organizational and communication skills as a project driver, as well as develop and implement processes that support client objectives, while managing for complex resource impacts, and positively impact growth and expansion of the company’s capacity to provide services within this geographical area.

The position will be a full-time, regular status, salaried position based out of our Durango Office, though remote employees able to travel frequently to the Four Corners area will be seriously considered.

What you will accomplish

  • Manage environmental permitting, regulatory strategy development, environmental field surveys, and construction compliance for oil and gas projects.
  • Provide managerial support for environmental staff including hiring, coaching, training, and mentorship.
  • Manage the permitting of projects including agency negotiations and consultations, Endangered Species Act consultation, National Historic Preservation Act coordination, Clean Water Act permitting, etc.
  • Manage projects requiring coordination with staff conducting wetland delineations, resource surveys, cultural resources compliance activities, and other specialized tasks.
  • Ensure overall performance and accuracy of documents prepared for environmental services in accordance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other guidelines as applicable.
  • Oversee the preparation of biological assessments, cultural resources reports, and other environmental documents.

Experience and qualifications for success

  • Knowledge normally obtained through a bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Biological Sciences, Archaeology, Environmental Sciences, Planning, Resource Management or Geology.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the environmental services or compliance industry.
  • A minimum of 3 years managing the permitting, environmental consulting, or NEPA documentation for permitting projects.
  • Knowledge of project planning and development related to environmental projects and regulatory frameworks of federal and state agencies.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply environmental compliance and permitting regulations of applicable regulatory agencies that include Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), and/or New Mexico State Lands Office (SLO).
  • Experience preparing clear and concise reports, procedures, correspondences, and other written materials.

Preferred or Helpful qualifications:

  • Knowledge and practice of managing client relationships.
  • Knowledge of document development related to change orders and add-ons, and providing scopes and fees.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and functions, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

An employee in this Durango, CO - based position can expect a salary of $90,480.00 to $120,640.00/year. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law.  Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
