Climate Policy Initiative is hiring a
Senior Program Associate, Catalytic Climate Finance Facility
ABOUT CPI
CPI is an analysis and advisory organization with deep expertise in finance and policy. Our mission is to help governments, businesses, and financial institutions drive economic growth while addressing climate change. CPI has six offices around the world in Brazil, India, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, and the United States (San Francisco and Washington D.C).
CPI is known as a leader in tracking sustainable investment trends, identifying innovative business models, and supporting the solutions that can drive the transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient, inclusive economy. We are unique in our focus on finance, our ability to get the right people to the table, and our analytical rigor.
ABOUT THE CC FACILITY
The Catalytic Climate Finance Facility (CC Facility) is a program focused on scaling sustainable climate finance by providing grant funding and dedicated acceleration services to early-stage and market-ready financial solutions in sectors that are severely under-financed in developing countries. The CC Facility aims to be an ecosystem builder, playing a key role in mainstreaming climate action, with emphasis on gender responsiveness and local capacity, and increasing the available pipeline of bankable solutions.
The CC Facility addresses a key market need and gap in the development process of climate finance solutions. Financial vehicles take between 3 and 4 years to gain sufficient traction and be fully implemented. The program will provide the full suite of tools that can accelerate the market roll-out and scale solutions more quickly.
The program will be run by a joint venture between Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) and Convergence, two of the leading organization in climate finance and blended finance, respectively. CPI and Convergence are combining their expertise to bring a holistic solution to accelerate the implementation of high-impact blended finance climate investment vehicles. The CC Facility will build upon the successful deployment of financial vehicles already supported and incubated by both organizations through their flagship programs, the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance (The Lab) and Design Funding. Together, these programs have backed 95 solutions that have since secured close to $5 billion in investments in under 10 years, an achievement unmatched in this early-stage space.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Program Associate will be responsible for overall project management and coordination of CPI’s role as co-manager of the CC Facility and responsible for the technical support provided to climate investment vehicles. This comprises the end-to-end process from strategy and fundraising to implementation of technical support and stakeholder management. The position will be the key liaison between CPI and Convergence, ensuring that operations run smoothly and technical support is delivered effectively and efficiently.
The Senior Program Associate will operate autonomously but drawing on input and expertise from CPI senior management and technical teams, as well as communications and operations staff. They will gain exposure to a wide array of stakeholders in the climate and blended finance space while working to accelerate the development of innovative solutions. This position requires an independent and resourceful individual with strong strategic, financial, and interpersonal skills. In addition, the role is expected to deliver some of the technical support to selected initiatives, which requires robust analytical skills.
The Senior Program Associate’s primary focus will be on the CC Facility program but will form an integral part of the CPI Climate Finance team and have the opportunity to collaborate with other Climate Finance programs (e.g., The Lab).
