Position Summary

The Center for Financial Inclusion (CFI) team is driven by our vision of a world where all people are able to use financial services and participate in the economy to improve their lives and prosper. We are looking for colleagues who share our passion to join us on the journey.

The Senior Specialist, Operations works closely with CFI’s leadership team in the day-to-day administration and management of the Center and acts as a liaison to the Advisory Council and other key institutional stakeholders. We are looking for someone who has project management experience, an attention to detail, a knack for creating strong stakeholder relationships, and a pride in consistently delivering quality work in a fast-paced environment. This is a new position and an exciting opportunity to help scale CFI’s impact at a critical time in inclusive finance.

This position is based in Washington, DC with the expectation to work in office 2 days per week.

Position Responsibilities

Operations

  • Develop, refine and manage CFI’s operational processes—working closely with relevant corporate support departments and CFI leadership. These processes include staff onboarding, technology support, office management, and procurement.
  • Organize staff meetings, retreats and help shape them to be engaging and productive.

Stakeholder relationship management

  • Plan and support CFI Advisory Council meetings, in conjunction with the Managing Director.
  • Lead the development of donor reports, working in conjunction with programmatic teams and other stakeholders.
  • Support the development and maintenance of institutional relationships, in partnership with CFI leadership.

Budgeting and finance

  • Support budget preparation and oversight activities, including the tracking of expenditures and development of monthly financial reports.
  • Serve as CFI’s lead for the day-to-day relationships with the finance team.

Other duties, including event management support, as assigned and needed

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred in management, finance, international development, or a related field; an equivalent of four years of experience is acceptable.

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in project management or related capacity, with event management and/or budgeting experience.

  • Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail.

  • High-level skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; database and spreadsheet management experience required.

  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment, independently with minimal supervision and to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Outstanding organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

  • An ability to communicate effectively and professionally in writing and verbally.

  • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to continuously develop new skills.

  • Ability to work with multiple management levels and supervisory staff; manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and follow through on projects.

  • Requires a strong customer service orientation, good judgment, high discretion and flexibility. The ability to handle confidential material with tact and discretion is essential.

  • Interested in our mission and working globally.

  • Willingness to embody our values of excellence, respect and passion for social change.

  • Excellence: Accion staff should always put forth their best effort in all activities, strive for high quality of collective and individual performance; and demonstrate honesty and integrity at all times while in the workplace and while working on behalf of the organization.

  • Respect: Accion staff should value one another’s roles and responsibilities as much as their own, be encouraging, and value the diverse and unique perspectives of colleagues. They should honor obligations and commitments to each other and to external partners.

  • Passion for Social Change: Accion staff should be committed to making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate, value the greater good of the organization over personal gain, and promote a productive workplace by acknowledging the accomplishments of others.
