Founded in 1990, OutRight Action International strives to help lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) people live safer, healthier, and more empowered lives worldwide. Working from its offices in 12 countries and global headquarters in New York City, OutRight documents human rights violations, helps resource LGBTIQ movements and allies, and advocates for the rights of LGBTIQ people.
OutRight currently seeks a Senior Manager, Development Systems who will manage and help shape the infrastructure of OutRight’s fundraising technologies and manage all aspects of our database. The selected candidate will be responsible for the planning and administration of database systems, tools and processes to support the fundraising function in the Development department. They will provide data to solicit and cultivate donors as part of online, major gift, and other fundraising campaigns and supervise all entries made to accurate and efficient entry of gifts and other data into database systems.
The position can be based anywhere and may require some travel. The selected candidate will report to the Director of Development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead all aspects of our donor database ensuring data integrity, department access to critical information for ongoing initiatives, and the planning and implementation of system enhancements and integrations with third-party tools.
- Install, configure, test, and deploy applications that work with the fundraising system, as well as serve as the liaison with any related vendors.
- Support OutRight’s leadership team in reporting needs that impact the
development and implementation of strategic plans that further
fundraising functions.
- Work collaboratively with the Finance and Development staff to ensure that donations are properly reconciled and serve as the liaison to the Finance Department on all questions concerning the receipt of gifts.
- Provide relevant and accurate reporting (including donor, event, and revenue analysis reports) in support of fundraising campaigns to ensure the success of these campaigns.
- Perform highly complex data mining of various sources through reports, queries, imports, and exports to support fundraising efforts using tools including DonorPerfect, DonorSearch, and Microsoft Excel.
- Create customized individual prospect lists for priority projects (including mid and major gift portfolios).
- Maintains coding and business processes for all Development data systems including those for collecting and storing prospect research information to support high-level prospect cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Participates in regular prospect and pipeline meetings with the Director of Development and others as needed.
- Provisions new users, ensuring their security settings are configured appropriately
- Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving system issues identified
by staff, event participants, donors, and other constituent groups
- Train staff on the fundraising system to ensure functionality and alignment across the organization
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and database administration
- Superior literacy of fundraising strategies and methods
- A high level of comfort with online fundraising and marketing tools and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- High level of proficiency in Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), and experience with constituent relationship management (CRM) systems with a strong desire for experience with DonorPerfect and DonorSearch.
- Passionate commitment to the pursuit of liberation from persecution based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity or expression within the broader context of a desire to eliminate all intersecting forms of oppression.
- Excellent relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently
- Skilled at training and coaching others on technical systems, and ease in communicating with technical and non-technical users effectively, while translating requirements to the appropriate level of understanding
- Strong technical troubleshooting, QA (quality assurance), and solution testing skills
- Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and to work calmly under the pressure of goals and deadlines
