Senior ETS market analyst

🌟 The role

This key role reports into the Head of Market Analysis and Research and is responsible for  key research, analytical and operational tasks to support our commercial teams, clients, and Vertis international expansion. You are an ideal candidate if you have a strong experience in research and analysis in the carbon markets and wish to continue building your career and expertise with a strong business focus for a leading trading company on global level. Your analysis and communication skills will have a direct impact on the largest polluters across the world by supporting our commercial teams with actionable intelligence. We are proud to be considered thought leaders on the market and we are looking for a high-potential individual who can carry the reputation forward.

Responsibilities

·        R&D of data-driven quantitative market models to predict market variables

·        Analyse ETS markets worldwide (WCI, RGGI, Korea, New Zealand…)

·        Analyse the major drivers of carbon markets, align view with other market experts & translate insights into models

·        Develop, maintain and improve our market models

·        Speak at high level conferences

·        Analyse market developments and predict impact on supply/demand

·        Provide thought leadership

·        Stay up to date on the dynamics of the California/Quebec/RGGI ETS and relevant global markets, pro-actively identify new sources of insight

·        Brief the trading team on developments

·        Constantly learn about relevant markets and quantitative forecasting techniques

·        Support business with ad-hoc research when unexpected market developments occur

·        Build VERTIS/STX reputation for market expertise through webinars, speaking engagements, conferences

·        Liaise with relevant associations, governments and the private sector & local stakeholders in the different markets

Qualifications

·        Min. 3-5 years work experience as an analyst in ETS market(s), additional experience in power and gas markets is an advantage

·        Solid understanding of supply/demand fundamentals in ETS markets

·        Strong business acumen to develop executable trading ideas

·        Programming skills (ie. Python) is an asset

·        Strong communication skills

·        Fluent in English

·        Reliability and integrity
