About the Job

Our Marketing and Business Development group is growing as our company embarks on ambitious growth plan to meet evolving client needs in the areas of environment, natural resource, climate change and sustainability consulting. We are currently seeking an experienced proposal manager who will lead our efforts to build and submit proposals to support the business development efforts of our scientists, engineers, and economists. The successful candidate will manage proposals, RFP responses, SOQ developments, and marketing collateral for all service areas of the company. The ability to communicate objectives, build and manage teams of collaborators, while displaying a meticulous attention to detail, work product quality, and deadlines is critical to successfully executing this position. The successful candidate also will have the capacity to understand and translate the technical vision or our partitioners into compelling proposals, relying on strong written and visual presentations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and successful submission of proposals across all service areas
• Coordinate with appropriate internal and external partners to ensure timely contributions to proposal documents as well as their technical and editorial review
• Ensure compliance with RFP requirements with high pressure deadlines
• Compile evidence of experience, project descriptions, resumes, documents, and other assets from multiple information sources
• Contribute to the voice and flow of proposal documents, where appropriate, in order to establish memorable brand consistency
• Advise staff on edits or additions that may increase the competitiveness of proposals
• Ability to manage geographically disparate teams
• Complete government forms, client questionnaires, and qualifying statements on behalf of the organization
• Develop and coordinate layouts and graphics as well as format tables and photos (when appropriate, coordinate with internal or external graphic designers)
• Edit, maintain, and improve existing business development materials that highlight the firm's expertise, experience, and innovation across all service areas and technologies
• Develop new business development materials for strategically important services areas and technologies
• Maintain a library/database of project descriptions, service area descriptions, other text, and multimedia assets useful for proposals and business development ends
• Maintain accurate proposal status reports in CRM system
• Ability to manage full-time staff additions to the proposals team

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

• A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, Graphic Design, Business, with 7+ years of professional experience
• 5+ years of proposal experience or equivalent professional experience
• Excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage several projects simultaneously; able to be hands-on as well as strategic
• A keen eye for design and layout
• Advanced Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign and Illustrator)
• Experience with SharePoint and Microsoft 365 collaborative documents, preferred
• Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint, preferred

Annual Salary Range: $80,000-$110,000

An employee’s total compensation package includes annual salary, company-subsidized (employee and family) medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) participation with a company-match of 1% to 4% of annual compensation, company-paid life and short- and long-term disability, paid sick leave (80 hours per year), paid vacation (12 days or 15 days; determined by title at hire), paid holidays (9 days per year), and the potential for an annual discretionary bonus based on company performance.
