We are currently looking for you, a dynamic and ambitious professional who shares our values and is passionate about leading people and projects.
Common Purpose is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1989 that develops leaders who can cross boundaries. This enables them to solve complex problems both in organizations and in cities. We deliver in-person and online leadership programmes for multiple generations of leaders, from students in universities to senior leaders in organizations and society, supporting them to develop the knowledge, skills and inspiration to cross boundaries and become more active and engaged citizens.
As a member of our global Delivery Team, you will be assigned different Projects and teams to lead. Your main responsibility will be to lead the delivery of our programmes for University students across different geographies and backgrounds (experience of working in/with the Higher Education sector is desirable, but not essential). We are looking for someone with a strong ability to manage teams to deliver complex projects, meeting deadlines and delivering the highest possible quality.
The role would also suit someone with experience of sales/fundraising or of sourcing conference speakers - while there are no financial targets, you and your teams will be tasked with securing a large number of speakers for our programmes.
This is a full-time permanent role which is based in the UK (applications can be considered from any location in or near to a major city).
As our Projects Leader, you will:
- Lead teams to manage and deliver our programmes/projects for university students across the world, ensuring quality and consistency of both participant and customer experience
- Source, secure and brief a balanced range of speakers appropriate to our programme curriculum, and lead teams to do the same
- Create and deliver to clear and timely project plans, ensuring programmes are delivered within agreed milestones and budgets
- Engage directly with clients where required, both internal and external, providing regular progress reports and adapting to their needs
- Gather feedback from each project and ensure this is actioned and incorporated into any future learning
- Collaborate with Common Purpose colleagues globally (across different time zones, locations and teams), using systems and networks appropriately, efficiently and transparently
You will bring this experience with you:
- The proven ability to lead and inspire diverse project teams
- Project Management experience (ideally in similar industries eg Higher Education, leadership, teaching), with the ability to handle multiple projects at any one time
- Sales and/or fundraising experience, or experience of securing speakers for conferences/workshops etc
- Experience of stakeholder management - building and maintaining strong working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internally and externally, and managing their expectations
- A flexible approach to managing a high workload, both for yourself and for your team
- The ability to deal with ambiguity, operating in a fast-paced environment with tight and shifting deadlines
- Excellent written English, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
- Able and willing to travel for short periods of time (when restrictions allow) and at short notice and outside of normal working hours
- Confident and proficient in the use of MS Office
What we offer in return:
- A salary of between £32,000 - £34,000 per annum dependent on experience
- 25 days of annual leave per annum + Christmas shutdown (25/12-1/1)
- A comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) supporting you in your work
- Headspace for work – mindfulness based mental health app
- Fast-paced but flexible environment – which will test and develop you
- Growth – you will be continually developing key skills and capabilities for your future through the role and our internal training and development programmes
- Impact – you will see the impact of your work as you and your teams deliver projects and programmes across the organization
- Purpose – the chance to work with a diverse range of colleagues across the world driven by the same mission
- Responsibility – you will take responsibility from day one and be given real accountability and ownership in your role
