PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
As the Project Officer – IMPACT, you will be responsible for supporting the project team with preparing and organising logistics following the procurement processes of ChildFund PNG. You will work with out of school youths to develop and implement community action groups, support their awareness activities, peer education sessions, organise service provider visits and income generating activities.
KEY DUTIES
- Design project implementation strategies;
- Develop activity implementation plans;
- Ensure effective implementation of project activities;
- Develop activity reports;
- Following ChildFund PNG’s procurement system, support the project team in procurement of materials needed for the project implementation;
- Support peer education programs and action group activities in schools and communities;
- Coordinate stakeholder visits;
- Support senior project officer in collecting data and providing input into quarterly, six monthly and annual reports;
- Liaise with partners especially National Department of Education about development curriculums and rolling out trainings in schools;
- Ensure compliance with CF policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Social Sciences or equivalent
- 3 years’ proven experience in project implementation
- Understanding of the PNG’s development context, activities and actors
- Technical expertise in gender, child protection
- Experience in leading youth peer education programs
- At least 3 years’ experience in a project officer role or equivalent
- Experience in working with youths.
- Knowledgeable about Child and Youth participation
- Experience in implementing a project with an NGO including facilitation and capacity building.
- Understanding of quantitative and qualitative methods of monitoring and evaluation.
DESIRABLE
- Experience in Peer Education and leading youth groups
- Experience as an NDOE official at national/sub-national level in a relevant division or position
Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding or sexual exploitation, abuse or harassment (SEAH) risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding and PSEAH policy and procedures, and conduct yourself consistent with those policies.
