PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
As the Project Officer (PO) for Gender and Language Education for Ethnic Students' Empowerment (GLEESE), your role is to provide the effective and efficient technical and administrative supports to ensure the implementation of gender and literacy development at the lower secondary educations under the directions of Project Coordinator.
KEY DUTIES
• Coordinate closely with stakeholders/partners and support them to ensure that GLEESE project activities run according to approved implementation plans.
• Participate in any baseline, mid-term, end-line surveys or any need assessments of teachers and children in selected schools, as directed by the Project Coordinator or Education Program Manager.
• Carry out monitoring of education activities demonstrating change in terms of quality and appropriateness of education, dropout rates, retention, attendance rates and other relevant measures.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, stakeholders and communities.
• Work closely with the Project Working Team to ensure participatory, transparent and high quality-project planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation in-line with ChildFund in Laos, Government and donor requirements.
• Support the preparation of Implementation Management Committee (IMC) monitoring activities to ensure that projects meet agreed outcome commitments.
• Provide technical support and work with teachers, local and Government partners, particularly the education office, to develop and pilot improved school administration and management systems and to document and share results, develop appropriate teaching methodologies, etc.
• Prepare regular high-quality project reports as required by the organization and as well as the outside sectors
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• A Bachelor degree in education, development studies, or other related fields.
• At least 3 years of technical project implementation experience
• A demonstrated interest and or understanding of the education sector in Lao PDR.
• Field experience and demonstrated skills in gender and literacy.
• Experience in participatory community development methodologies.
• Experience working with Indigenous People groups, children and youth in Laos. This include ability to be relational with children and youth.
• Strong written skills and experience producing high quality project reports.
• IT skills and familiarity with MS Office, MS Windows and Internet applications (including email).
• Demonstrated skills in teamwork and conflict resolution.
• Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding or sexual exploitation, abuse or harassment (SEAH) risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding and PSEAH policy and procedures, and conduct yourself consistent with those policies
DESIRABLE
• Previous experience of working in Huaphanh province.
• Skills and experience in pedagogy supports to teachers in various levels.

Employment: Full-time contract

Other information: Must have criminal background check before joining the organisation
The position is based in Xamneua district, Huaphanh province with regular travel to project areas: Xamneua and Sopbao districts.
