Responsibilities

Overall Function

Environmental Defense Fund is seeking a Project Manager to lead the EDF Science, Technology, Economics, Engineering & Mathematics (ESTEEM) professional development program. The ESTEEM program is designed to provide early career analysts at EDF with networking opportunities and training that will set them up for success in their careers. Someone in this role has a strong interest in developing people and creating the space for more impactful knowledge sharing. The program is centered on four tenets: Collaboration across the organization, Communication of complex information, Career development at EDF, and Context – understanding how EDF functions. This role will require someone that is able to handle all aspects of the program, from enrollment of new participants, to maintaining the successful mentorship structure.

The Project Manager reports to the Sr. Manager, Organizational Development and works closely with members of HR’s Organizational Development team and the Office of the Chief Scientist and Economics & Global Climate Cooperation mission areas.

Key Responsibilities

Advance the development of career pathing for our science, economic and analytical focused groups within EDF:

  • Work with key senior leaders like our Chief Scientist and Chief Economist to integrate their feedback into the program.
  • Identify opportunities for ESTEEM participants growth through internal and external networking workshops.
  • Collaborate with a cross functioning advisory team to keep the training up to date on programming languages and aligned with EDF’s ways of working.
  • Gather and disseminate information about the program to potential participants, managers of participants and alumni of the program.
  • Identify opportunities for program improvement and growth of career pathing programs across EDF.
  • Convene planning sessions with other necessary team members.

Manage and execute the ESTEEM program through the launch of its new iteration:

  • Socialize the program with participants, including facilitation of an introductory session with new participants and conducting exit interviews.
  • Identify and match mentors to program participants.
  • Work with internal and external presenters to plan webinars and workshops, execute contracts, and submit invoices in a timely manner.
  • Administer surveys, interpret results, and write reports for key stakeholders.
  • Manage the program budget.
  • Manage the ESTEEM email account and the Slack workspace.
  • Conduct administrative tasks, including identifying new participants and dispersing graduation materials.
  • Participate in advancing EDF DEI goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree highly preferred, ideally in a quantitative discipline.
  • At least 4 years of experience, or 2 years of experience with advanced degree, preferred managing professional development programs, for groups such as recent undergraduates or post-doctoral fellows.
  • Previous experience in either management, teaching, and/or indirect team leadership.
  • Previous experience mentoring early career professionals.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of science, economics, and analytical career trajectories.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Must demonstrate cultural awareness and the knowledge, attitude, behavior and skills that lead to a culturally competent workplace. Must demonstrate a commitment to continued self-assessment, learning and growth to increase and broaden culturally competent skillsets that produce effective interactions with people across diverse cultures and backgrounds. This includes the ability to adapt to cultural change.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • An ability to work both independently and as a member of small teams on multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic, and creative environment.

Pay Ranges

We offer a strong total rewards package encompassing competitive salary, robust benefits, and professional development opportunities consistent with a modern global organization. We take into account factors such as candidate experience, skills, training, internal team equity and local norms.

The pay range for this role is shown below.

Please note that pay ranges are country specific. As a result, the stated currency is not meant be converted into any other currency.

Minimum Salary

USD $74,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary

USD $88,000.00/Yr.
