Project Land Services Specialist

About the opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants is looking for an Project Land Services Specialist to support our Broomfield, CO office with work distributed across the Rocky Mountain Front range and potentially neighboring Midwestern states.  The position is an hourly, “on call”, temporary (no benefits) position.

What you will accomplish

As a core member of the Land Services Team, you will take a lead and collaborative role in pursuing project opportunities, managing projects, and meeting with landowners, clients, and other stakeholder groups.  Projects may include: critical issue analysis, environmental permitting, site selection and control, and coordination with government agencies and local communities toward the advancement of renewable energy projects. Our clients include property owners, real estate developers, municipalities, state agencies, and firms in renewable energy, construction, and engineering.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the discipline to work independently. The Project Land Services Specialist must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats and be willing to travel throughout the Rocky Mountain Front Range (Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Montana) and neighboring states such as Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma. The ability to move quickly between tasks and manage a wide variety of responsibilities each day is essential to success in this position.

Experience and qualifications for success

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies or planning, sustainability, geography, or other related discipline is preferred
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant land development experience
  • Understanding of environmental regulations and due diligence related to site development, especially relevant municipal planning codes and regulations
  • Prior county level permitting experience in Colorado required
  • Experience or knowledge of either the oil/gas or renewable energy industry required with transmission corridor/utility siting/substations strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills: the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Implementation of project management plans, timelines and budgets for development prospects
  • Collection of primary data and the creation of datasets
  • Collaboration with private and public-sector entities to maintain development goals and timelines
  • Preparation of written material for client or agency review
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Understanding of Geographic Information System (GIS) resources
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time

An employee in this Denver, CO -based position can expect a salary of $30.19/hour to $37.54/hour. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law.  Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
