Who we are
SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. The organization started its humanitarian work with the opening of its first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. The organization has been providing life-saving provisions such as food, water and health services for a very significant number of children devastated by severe drought and the subsequent famine.
Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community based organizations across seven program locations; SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia aspires that every child grows up with love, respect and security.
Why we need you?
We are looking for Project Finance Coordinator who will be responsible for ensuring the financial resources allocated for the Together for Inclusion Consortium in Ethiopia (TOFI) is managed based on the SOS-CVE’s financial and accounting policies and procedures and donor contract agreement. Project Finance Coordinator is also accountable for monitoring the financial progress of projects, investigating variances, and reviewing expenses.

Your role....
While working with us a Project Finance Coordinator you will be;
In charge of the following:
Financial services
- Control and monitor income, expenditure Together for Inclusion Consortium in Ethiopia project activities
- Facilitate the transfer of funds to projects account
- monitor real accounts and follow up (payables, receivables) and timely settlement of payment reports regularly to the project manager / Coordinator and Deputy Finance Manager
- Review approval requests and provide proper recommendation for approval
Internal control
- Checks the vouchers and receipts submitted by the projects/programmes for completeness and allocation to cost units and categories, and corrects these where necessary
- Carries out internal controls in accordance with SOS CVE’s internal controlling procedures accordance with donor standard procedures
- Create and maintain proper and well-standardized project asset inventory list
General services for assisted projects/programmes
- Prepares monthly ,quarterly/ annual analyses of expenditure compared to total project budget planning and monitors deviations
- Carries out accounting tasks using D365 accounting software and prepares monthly end-of-period accounts and bank reconciliation vouchers
- Routinely monitors costs using SOS CVE software in accordance with project requirement
- Ensure proper filing (electronic or hard copy) of grants financial reports are kept secure in National office.
Cash and Bank Management
- Follow up on timely submission, perform review of project Cash, and Bank registers including reconciliations as per the deadline set.
- Review and consolidate cash forecasts from project offices for timely update of liquidity plan and ensure timely transfers to projects account.
- Ensure monthly Cash Count and bank reconciliation reports are collected from Location project offices on time.
- Maintain donor income schedule including receipts and projections.
Other duties/additional tasks
- Reports all problems with financial administration and compliance without delayis responsible for filing in accordance with SOS CVE and donors
- Ensures compliance of SOS CVE project with relevant tax regulations
- Review procurement plans for projects when preparing annual budgets.
- Conduct periodic field visits to project implementation and report all finance and system related issues to Deputy Finance Manager.
- Undertake any other responsibility given by supervisor.
Auditing
- Ensures that proper reports and documents are prepared for the auditors.
- Facilitates the auditing of accounts by internal and external auditors.
- Answers queries of external and internal auditors while doing the field audit work and during
Child Safeguarding
- Responsible to take part in awareness-raising sessions and capacity-building training in relation to Child Safeguarding to prevent and protect children and young people from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence and discrimination
- Support children and young people to make them understand the CS risks and protection mechanisms
- Responsible to report any CS suspicion, concern, allegation or incident immediately, following Child Safeguarding reporting procedures. CS reports should be made to the CS team at the programme level and/or to the respective line manager

Education:
- BA degree or comparable qualification from a commercial academy (accounting) with sound professional experience in finance management
Experience and competences
- At least 5 years’ professional experience in a comparable position Other knowledge, additional competences
- Fluency in English (official language) and working knowledge of (other or local languages)
- In-depth knowledge of accounting software
- Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
