Who We Are Looking For

The position of an Intermediate Project Designer is a key role within our practice areas. In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation of municipal engineering designs using Civil 3D and other land development software.  The position requires knowledge and experience which varies from small infill sites to large urban subdivisions and mixed-use developments. Opportunity will be given to assist with other design related tasks, including report preparation, hydraulic sewer modelling, watermain network analysis and various project coordination responsibilities with external parties (client, consultants, review agencies, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Responsible for various preliminary engineering and detailed design activities, including earthwork analysis, road and parking lot design, site grading, sewer design and analysis, and watermain design
• Assists in the preparation of Quantity Calculations, Cost Estimates, and various contract administration duties as required
• Participates in the monitoring of project schedules and design costs. Communicates pertinent project information to Project Manager, municipalities and staff assigned to projects
• Performs other project coordination and design related duties as assigned by Project Manager
• Keeps project design records and files

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

• A passion for learning new ways to use the design software to produce smarter & faster designs and a desire to be on the leading edge and stay there
• The ability to take a design lead role on a project with minimal Project Manager and Senior Designer oversight
• An understanding that the drawings and reports you produce must communicate clearly the design intention and pride in producing well organized professional looking deliverables
• Intermediate knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Subdivision and Site Plan Design

Experience

• 3-4 years of experience in designing Site Plan and Subdivisions within urban and non-urban environments.  An intuitive understanding of the design parameters to be able to anticipate the governing design constraints for a project and an ability to creatively overcome these constraints to optimize a desig
• A working knowledge of Stormwater Management practices and techniques
• Experience in sewer design and the hydraulic analysis of sewer systems is preferred
