Program Officer – LBQ Connect

ABOUT OUTRIGHT ACTION INTERNATIONAL

Founded in 1990, Outright International strives to help lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer (LGBTIQ) people live safer, healthier, and more empowered lives worldwide. Working from its offices in 12 countries and global headquarters in New York City, Outright documents human rights violations, helps resource LGBTIQ movements and allies, and advocates for the rights of LGBTIQ people.

Outright currently seeks a Program Officer who will contribute to the implementation of the LBQ Connect program. The position can be based anywhere with preference for candidates between UTC+0 and UTC+4. This role may require some travel and it is funded by a grant with a two-year term.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate a global mentorship program connecting emerging LBQ activists to global LBQ leaders
• Recruit, pair and provide support to 50 LBQ mentors and 50 LBQ participants
• Schedule recruitment and program meetings with participants in various environments around the world
• Collaborate with Outright staff to organise LBQ Connect learning program
• Support the execution and monitoring of grants
• Collaborate and oversee the execution of research papers on different topics related to LBQ women
• Other work, as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

• A minimum of 3 years of experience on LGBTQIA+ or women’s’ advocacy projects, possibly in the Global South
• Strong, dynamic project management skills
• A “people person” with experience in (remote) work and developing working relationships with people of varying backgrounds
• A deep passion for LBQ advocacy
• Ability to communicate in French, Spanish and/or Arabic is a strong advantage.
