The Role: Product Development Manager
The Product Development Manager will lead multiple product development and design projects through complete lifecycles, from kick-off to production release.
This position requires an experienced manager of programs / projects / technical development, who is capable of successfully scoping, defining, planning, and executing projects.
This is a leadership position and will be expected to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams, provide guidance and mentorship to everyone working on their projects, and growing the careers of all around them.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Work with Product Managers to develop project requirements, technical roadmaps, and high-level project plans
- Work with product development teams to define, scope, plan, carry out and monitor development projects.
- Support our Project Delivery and Technical Services departments with customer-facing interactions.
- Develop project schedules and budgets, monitor progress and spending, and explain time gaps and budget variances.
- Manage project risks.
Key Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 8+ years of program or project management in an engineering, technical or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge:
- A thorough understanding of project management systems and tools.
- An understanding of Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies, and an ability to combine them in a hybrid environment.
- A thorough understanding of at least one product development system that uses phase or stage gates.
- An ability to review engineering and manufacturing plans and recommend changes to suit your project plans.
- A thorough understanding of supply chains and quality requirements as they relate to product development.
- A thorough understanding of design validation techniques and practices.
- A good level of comfort in using the Microsoft 365 suite of applications.
- Ability to use advanced features of Microsoft Project to schedule project activities and manage resources.
- Ability to develop clear and concise documents and presentations.
- Excellent analytical skills that result in making sound decisions and recommendations.
- A deep understanding of risk management tools, techniques, and strategies.
- Education:
- A university degree or college diploma in a technical field, or an equivalent amount of practical work experience.
- Preference will be given to candidates who are registrants (EIT, P.Eng, PE) of an engineering association.

- Your time management skills and ability to organize and prioritize your work enable you meet your milestones and delivery commitments.
- You have a strong ethic to be grammatically correct and you ensure that your written and verbal communications are clear and concise.
- You listen well and learn quickly but aren’t afraid to ask when you need help.
- You can think and behave tactically or strategically, as project situations warrant.
- Working calmly through stressful situations comes as second nature to you.
- You find a balance in being guided by processes but are ultimate driven by success and results.
- You do not allow yourself to be distracted by problems, failures and setbacks in your drive to succeed.
