What is the opportunity?

Under the direction of the US-based Procurement Manager, the Procurement Officer will be responsible for developing and adhering to the procurement, inventory, and disposal processes and procedures within Misiones del Agua Internacional in Honduras following established policies. The Procurement Officer takes the role of leading, coordinating, and supervising supply activities within Misiones del Agua Internacional. The incumbent maintains contact with other NGOs, government partners, and commercial contractors. This position is based in San Pedro Sula or El Progreso and reports at a functional level to the US-based Procurement Manager and at an administrative level to the Misiones del Agua Internacional office in Honduras.

A successful Procurement Officer will:

• Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, donors, volunteers, and the public.
• Be responsible for all procurement activities and inventory within Misiones del Agua Internacional. The key role is to ensure value for money, including activities such as identifying, assessing, and selecting vendors based on their capability to deliver commodities, services, and work while maintaining vendor and item master databases.
• Work with US and Honduras staff to develop new and revise existing procurement, inventory, and disposal procedures consistent with the global procurement policy.
• Champion the adherence to policies and procedures and the use of NetSuite for procurement and inventory-related activities.
• Supervise other procurement staff.
• Recommend on the issue of contracts and purchase orders and issue the same with strict adherence to processes and procedures.
• Update and track procurements in process.
• Prepare, review, and submit timely reports required by policy or donor requirements.
• Be responsible, in conjunction with the finance team, for follow-up on invoice processing, vendor payments, warranty claims, maintenance, repairs, and after-sales services by the vendors.
• Oversee that the arrangement of goods has been done in an orderly system within the stock location system so that the stock can be stored easily and retrieved whenever there is a requirement. Similarly, ensure that the inventory is physically protected in the warehouse or other locations.
• Undertake the function of inventory counts and confirm the periodic stock regularly by working closely with the designated staff members.
• Pursue continuing education through Water Mission University and other means as directed, including increasing proficiency in technical writing.
• Coordinate, manage, and support all activities of the supply chain function, including planning, sourcing, transport, shipping, customs clearance, warehousing, and asset and fleet management in operation. Apply distribution control techniques to optimize stock levels.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or related experience; additional professional qualification preferred, preferably in procurement or related field.
• Computer experience, including Microsoft Office, email, video conferencing, and procurement systems.
• Proven experience as a self-starter who demonstrates initiative.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.
• Ability to travel domestically for up to two consecutive weeks.
• Legal authorization to work in Honduras without sponsorship.
• Driving license and skills required.
