Job Summary:
The Process Technician has hands-on experience in conducting a variety of metallurgical tasks. This position will be responsible for installing and operating equipment, preparing samples and reagents, conducting tests, measuring, and recording potential data, and preparing and submitting samples for analysis.
The ideal candidate will be a driven individual with high attention to detail and organization, and a positive “can-do” attitude.
Primary Responsibilities (to include but not limited to):
- Plan, organize and prepare samples and necessary reagents prior to conducting test work
- Arrange and construct experimental setups coupled with necessary equipment as required
- Perform field level risk assessment prior to conducting tests
- Conduct a variety of tests including leaching, solid-liquid separation, precipitation, solvent extraction, ion exchange, crystallization by following the standard operating procedures to support the plant operation
- Calibrate equipment, measure and record data, and communicate test results with supervisor
- Prepare and submit representative feed and process samples with proper label for assaying
- Perform regularly housekeeping to maintain a clean working environment
- Assist in maintaining inventory of consumables
- Perform troubleshooting of metallurgical techniques and methods, and LIMS training
- Follow all company, local, state, and federal health, safety and environmental policies, and quality regulations
- Report any accidents, safety violations, discrepancies, or other concerns to the supervisor
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum a high school diploma or equivalent in a science related program
- Experience in handling solid, liquid, and gaseous samples and various equipment
- Highly flexible with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Minimum of 3 years working experience in chemical/metallurgical laboratory
- Proficient in using computer software including word, excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft outlook
- Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written
- Ability to work well under pressure independently and with others
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always
- Professional appearance and manners
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
Working Conditions:
- May exposure to the reagents, solid and aqueous wastes, and metal salts
- Must be wear proper personal protective equipment including gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hat, respirator, and face shield as required to in the facilities
- Physical ability to lift 40 lb+
- Some travel may be required
- Extended hours and shift work may be required
