Responsibilities

Program/Department Overview

EDF’s Creative Team is part of Marketing and Communications, or Marcomm. We are a fun, diverse, inclusive team of creative storytellers who strive to get EDF’s policy, science, and legal work out to the masses in a visual and digestible way that captures all audiences.

Overall Function

This would be a brilliant opportunity for someone with photo expertise to work closely with EDF’s brand ambassadors and designers. The intern will learn the inner workings of a digital library and storing/tagging photos for reuse based on individual legal permissions offered. The intern will sit within the Marcomm/Creative Team, and will report to the Photo Project Manager, as well as the digital team and librarians.

Key Responsibilities

Tasks will include but are not limited to:

• Research photos from outside agencies, outside photographers/galleries as well as via EDF’s inhouse library, to compliment stories and ads for edf.org and its teams and publications.
• Monitor wrike system for new shoots via the video team, and collaborate if marketing still photos can be added to shoots. Brainstorm good photo scenarios to capture, work with videographers who can also capture stills, or work with outside photographers to commission photos as needed.
• Provide support to the team in supplying illustrative photo ideas for ads  and possibly to the editorial team of writers under.
• Participate in advancing EDF Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in/be a recent graduate of an undergraduate  degree program or enrolled in a Photography Program.
• Demonstrated interest in photo editing, photo research, photo retouching, photo archiving, and photo branding.
• Highly proficient in Adobe Suite Photoshop, bridge, adaptable to project manager program wrike a plus.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must be well organized, motivated, and detail-oriented.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work in a team setting and have the ability to work independently when projects are due.
• Demonstrate self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
• Demonstrate initiative and problem solving skills.

Hybrid out of New York City, or  U.S. Remote

Summer 2023 (10 weeks, with the possibility to extend)

Hours

Full-Time (35 hours per week)

Compensation

This internship would involve compensation for work paid at a rate competitive with leading non-profits at $17/hr.
