About the Role

We are hiring two Customer Development Specialists & Program Coordinators who can help us with customer management, coordinating operations between departments, and helping manage and maintain our community solar knowledge and tools. Our customers are the heart of our company, and the Customer Development team works to provide the best quality of customer care while also working closely with the Marketing, Operations, Billing, and Technology teams to provide a better overall customer experience with community solar and with our customer management platform.

This position has the option to start part-time, potentially leading to full-time work, which will provide you the opportunity to take your time in learning all about community solar, our platforms, and the utilities we work with, before committing to becoming a full-time employee. You also have the option to start full-time if you have the required knowledge and/or similar working experience already. This is either a P/T or possibly a F/T position working Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend or evening work (comp time provided). We will provide full training and onboarding for you. This position is located at our Silver Spring office, but remote work is possible for this role. We are looking for Maryland-based staff, who can come in-person to our Silver Spring office for large meetings or events, and also work in our office several days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming customer questions via phone, live chat, and email communications
  • Work to improve customer retention by providing exceptional quality of service and handling their concerns
  • Improve collections efforts by tracking and analyzing data billing and invoice data
  • Improve customer communications by working with the Marketing team on providing clear, concise information on community solar for customers
  • Work with our CRM tools to create and manage customer and operational issues
  • Work with the project management tools to develop and maintain a data collection and tracking system to oversee project goals and challenges
  • Work with our learning management system to help design learning and training content on community solar
  • Help plan and manage customer-focused events and promoting our customer advocates
  • Work with our Operations team to organize and manage customer data, contracts, and other documentation
  • Work on improving our S.H.A.R.E program and Neighborhood Benefit Fund to provide renewable energy to those who cannot afford it

Qualifications

  • Must be a Maryland Resident
  • Must have a bachelor's degree with at least 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role in a business
  • Prior experience in green energy is an asset
  • Experience working for a start-up is an asset
  • Experience with CRM software such as Salesforce or Hubspot (preferred)
  • Mid-level experience with MS Suite (Outlook, Excel, Power Point) and Google Apps (Docs and Sheets)
