OPERATIONS MANAGER

All Hands and Hearts is a disaster relief nonprofit. Our program bases are located in the communities we serve, and staff members live in communal environments. Understand your responsibility for the safety of yourself and for those around you. Make yourself aware of, and comply with all safety protocols (including COVID-19), which may differ between locations, based on local risk assessment and local regulations.

Vaccination is required in all in-person work environments including program bases, offices, and team meetings. We will always provide an option for travel-exempt folks to join these meetings and events virtually, to ensure we are providing an inclusive and accessible environment for people who are unvaccinated, vaccinated and at high risk, or avoiding in person events out of concern for others in their circle.

The start date for this position is March 2023.

Position Purpose

A versatile position within a dynamic nonprofit that provides community-inspired, volunteer-powered disaster relief. The position is full-time and is responsible for managing the operations team to deliver efficient and effective logistical support to the program teams.

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to Program Director
  • Roles reporting to position  Volunteer Relations Coordinator
  • Approximate number of reports  1-2

Essential Functions

  • Provides supportive leadership, management, and overall organizational planning to general operations of the program
  • Manages the Operations Team to deliver an efficient and effective program (base operation, financial management, volunteer coordination and engagement, base logistics, etc.), to support successful project outputs
  • Supports in recruiting, onboarding, and managing an effective staff team to meet the specific needs of the communities affected
  • Supports the Program Director and Recovery Manager in empowering staff to carry out their work effectively and efficiently
  • Support in making sure AHAH and program’s rules are followed; perform disciplinary processes, if needed
  • Develop an overall budget for the program, including financial forecasting
  • Reconcile operational and project budgets to meet approved overall program budgets
  • With the support of the Recovery Manager and fellow staff, develop, implement, and review the program’s Emergency and Evacuation Procedures, and Health, Safety, and Security protocols
  • Work with local partners and create collaboration between us and their organizations
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate communication, training, and rehearsal of contingency plans and organizing periodical risk assessments
  • Communicate program performance and escalate  issues to the Leadership Team on scheduled reporting calls and as needed
  • Support training and skills development for staff and volunteers
  • We understand vaccination is the best way to protect our beneficiaries, community members, staff and volunteers, therefore we require all of our on program staff members to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To be considered for this position you must be fully vaccinated.  Subject to applicable guidance, the term fully vaccinated currently refers to when an individual has received either a single-shot vaccine or both doses of a two-shot vaccine, and two weeks have elapsed since the final dose.

Position Requirements

  • Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience in relevant field.
  • Related Experience  A minimum of one years’ experience working in a disaster response context, preferably with AHAH. At least one year of experience in a role with project management responsibilities, including budget tracking and reporting. Management experience in a professional setting. Previous All Hands and Hearts, AmeriCorps, or Peace Corps experience preferred.
  • Special Competencies/Certifications  Must be legally authorized to work in the US. Good written and oral communication skills and confidence working with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. Applicants need to be well organized and have a flexible approach to managing multiple tasks, prioritizing them appropriately, and outstanding leadership and delegation skills. The individual is able to manage a large workload and perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work Environment/Conditions  Based on-program; communal living environment. High-stress situations.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay rate is $14.45-$15.70 USD/ hour, based on position, skills and experience
