Operations Coordinator , Accounting and Administration - MicroMentor

Location: Portland OR, or US Remote

Position Status Part Time (0.5 FTE), Regular, Non-Exempt Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $40,000 - $42,667 USD commensurate on experience ($20,000- $21,333.50 USD 0.5 FTE equivalent)

**
MicroMentor is an initiative of Mercy Corps’ Innovations Team. MicroMentor connects entrepreneurs and business mentors on an easy-to-use social platform that strives to overcome geographical limitations and deliver business resources at scale to under-resourced communities around the globe. We are the world's largest network of free business mentoring. Entrepreneurs matched with a mentor have shown significant results in terms of improved job creation, business survival, and revenue growth. Since inception, our community has grown to more than 115,000 entrepreneurs and 43,000 mentors across 180 countries.  Our team is diverse, driven, hardworking and highly committed to the mission of helping small businesses thrive through mentoring.

**The Position
**
The Operations Coordinator will assist in driving MicroMentor towards operational and strategic excellence, by supporting the facilitation of our finance, accounting, and procurement procedures and improvement of our systems and processes.

**Essential Job Responsibilities
**
FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING

  • Act as backup and support for Senior Operations Coordinator for the duties related to Accounts Payable
  • Manage New Vendor and Consultant set up
  • Data entry and tracking of Digital Advertising
  • Act as backup and support for Senior Operations Coordinator for credit card allocation and reconciliation

PROCUREMENT AND RECRUITMENT

  • Act as backup and support for Senior Operations Coordinator for all duties and responsibilities related to Procurement
  • Kickoff and coordinate consultants and vendor contract renewals.
  • Gather and organize supporting documentation.

TRAVEL

  • Onboard new team members on processes and procedures related to travel
  • Support team member travel at MicroMentor, primarily helping team members plan and book travel via Mercy Corps resources, as well as preparing team member expense reports.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Coordinate earned income contracting process
  • Manage folders and files for finance, procurement and contracting
  • Lead Salesforce functions related to earned income contracts
  • Support Operations department with ad hoc projects and duties

Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders
**
Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work. **Minimum Qualifications & Transferable Skills
**
We will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item or section is labeled required.   • 2 years of any combination of experience in business administration, finance, banking, accounting or other relevant field is required (international education and experience will also be considered).
  • 1+ year of bookkeeping and budgeting experience
  • Strong computer skills in Google suite and MS Office programs (specifically MS365) required
  • 1+ year experience in procurement of contracts and coordinating business travel preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision

The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of accounting practices and procedures, strong attention to detail, an understanding of general accounting principles and the ability to act responsibly and ethically when working with sensitive financial information. They will have a desire and the willingness to learn. This ideal candidate will also have strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize workload.

**Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions
**
This position can be fully remote, US-Based.  Must be available to overlap with PST working hours.  This is a part-time position (20 hours per week) and we are open to a flexible schedule.
