Office: regular office presence to be expected for meetings 
Position Status: Full-time
Salary: starting salary for this role is circa £32,000 annual - commensurate with experience

The Project and Team:

The One Finance System (“1FS”) Project has been established with the aim of moving Mercy Corps in Europe to a new financial accounting and reporting system so that the whole organisation is using the same finance system.

Currently Mercy Corps in Europe uses SUN Systems as its finance system whereas the rest of the organisation globally uses Serenic Navigator. The intention is to move Mercy Corps in Europe onto Serenic Navigator, aligning global processes and procedures.

Serenic Navigator is a not-for-profit software built from Microsoft Dynamics Nav and is currently used as Mercy Corps’ global financial accounting and reporting software outside of Europe. Mercy Corps in Europe currently has been using SUN Systems for over 10 years.

The 1FS Project Team is responsible for leading and coordinating implementation of Serenic Navigator for Mercy Corps in Europe, and the Implementation Lead would be part of this Team.

The Position

The Implementation Lead will drive business system requirements and design through implementation of the 1FS project, and will be responsible for all solution deliverables.

Essential Responsibilities

●        Represent Mercy Corps in Europe interests and leverage key Subject Matter Experts (SME) and functional lead resources to enable key financial and process efficiencies through technology enabled processes

●        Provide direction to Mercy Corps Functional Leads, SMEs and vendor project consultants to execute a thorough GAP/Fit analysis of the new software.

●        Provide process vision and guidance to project team regarding the utilisation and implementation of the software system, regarding quality/timeliness of process design and configuration deliverables.

●        Identify critical financial management and reporting requirements.

●        Gather and/or determine timely answers to system configuration questions.

●        Work with the team to develop business solution designs that ensure business requirements are met.

●        Lead functional testing and validation of system processes and solutions, evaluating results.

●        Develop process and user procedure documentation.

●        Provide user support and training as applicable.

●        Oversee and support development of key configuration, process and test documentation for each functional area.

●        Interact with Project Director, Project Manager and Steering Team to resolve issues and conflicts.

●        Other duties as assigned.

Accountability

Reports Directly To: Finance Systems Manager, Mercy Corps Global (Project Director)

Works Directly With: Corporate Finance and International Finance teams in both Mercy Corps Europe (MCE) and Mercy Corps Global (MCG), 1FS Project Manager, 1FS Project Team, Serenic software team, and other stakeholders as required.

Minimum Qualifications & Transferable Skills

●        Degree in Accounting or Finance, part-qualified accountant or qualified by experience in a relevant field is required. Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CA, CIMA or equivalent) preferred.

●        At least 5 years of finance/management experience and 3-5 years’ experience of managing grants in an international NGO is required, with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of rules and regulations governing the compliance and regulatory management of grants from donor agencies preferred.

●        Demonstrated knowledge of financial and statutory reporting, accounting systems and accounting software is required.

●        Previous experience of implementing new financial accounting and reporting systems is preferred.

●        Proficiency with MS Office software required (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) - with an advanced proficiency in Excel preferred.

Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions

The position is based in Edinburgh, Scotland and it may require travel locally within the UK but does not require international travel.
