Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Global Marketing, working closely with the VP, Marketing and Communication, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator will help organize Li-Cycle’s MarCom team and assist with general brand building activities and communications and general administrative tasks for the department, that will include online presence, research/writing, and other marketing and public relations activities.

We are seeking a talented, motivated, and top performer to be a part of a smart and energetic team, as Li-Cycle enters its next phase of global growth. The position will be “hybrid,” with three days in the Toronto office headquarters, depending on business needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

• General administrative tasks
  • Support the marketing and communication department's initiatives with the planning, executing, and tracking of the department’s programs such as email, event, social media, or content marketing.
  • Independently coordinate marketing and community events, including overseeing logistics, managing registrations, coordinating with vendors, creating itineraries, and ordering marketing collateral
  • Provide other general administrative support to the office, including expenses and managing and organizing department folders.
• Creative skills
  • Support the updating of PowerPoint presentations.
  • The ability to perform basic designs for signage, displays and logo use (helpful if familiar with Canva, Photoshop and Illustrator)
  • Helping to source or create appropriate images and visuals for use with social media and public relations.
  • Maintain and update the corporate presentation, and MS PowerPoint/Word templates.
• Social media savvy
  • Have a solid understanding of promotion and communication via social media, in particular, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
  • Provide social media coordination, including day-to-day execution and monitoring.
  • Actively monitor media and news relevant to Li-Cycle’s industries (e.g. electric vehicles, renewable energy, mining and metals, and more)
    • Summarize key news stories for internal distribution.
    • Prepare emails and internal newsletters to release through internal distribution.
    • Coordinate and contribute to impact stories, blog posts, and thought leadership captions for executive leadership team!
  • Communications and research:
  • Research opportunities and trends
  • Research award opportunities and draft applications using Li-Cycle’s key messaging docs.
  • Prepare short abstracts for presentations and conferences.
  • Update website content, flyers, and other materials on an as-needed basis

Job Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following: Communications, Public Relations, Business, Marketing, or similar
• 1-3 years of experience in marketing and/or communications

• Interest in design and social media communications and marketing
• Must have strong organizational and project management skills, as well as attention to detail.
• High-level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
• Proactive self-starter with an 'owner's mindset'
• Consistently delivers quality work on time, with a strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated exceptional teamwork skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel and web-conferencing tools
• Proficient with WordPress, HubSpot, Hootsuite and Canva
• Knowledge of the Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is helpful.
• Motivated, methodical, and optimistic
• Maintains strict confidentiality and discretion with respect to proprietary and sensitive information.
• Demonstrated interest in cleantech, electric vehicles or renewable energy a plus.
