Manufacturing Technician - Test

🇨🇦 Welland, Ontario L3B 5N4, CA 📝 FULL-TIME

The Manufacturing Technician - Test will act as a key member of the assembly operations unit when taking ownership of resolving identified issues through analysis of engine production. This involves having familiarity of all engine types, parts and build processes as it pertains to diagnosis of critical test failures, troubleshooting and communication to production teams when recommending solutions.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Understanding all stages of the assembly process through each product line (VHP, VGF, 275 & Genset) to ensure engine performance meets specifications and customer requirements.
  • Communicating with both production engineers and assembly technician teams when investigating issues with engine performance.
  • Following troubleshooting process to identify the source of engine non-conformities and following through necessary repairs
  • Documenting and recording non-conformities and supporting root cause analysis to promote continuous improvement in assembly and test process.
  • Knowledge and ability to accurately navigate through all test cell systems and software programs: Morphee, Woodward, Facilities HMI, ESP and MES
  • Identifying and understanding any anomalies during engine testing (abnormal readings, temperatures, pressures, noises, leaks) and ability to resolve any issues
  • Ability to understand facility HMI and all components involved (instrumentation, valves, motors)
  • Continuously monitor engine parameters throughout various steps of Factory Acceptance Test (stability, speed, load, fuel demand,) and perform adjustments as needed
  • Interpreting test data and uploading to proper channels
  • Ability to use equipment such as, engine transporters, cranes and lifting devices
  • Ability to follow critical post-inspection criteria specific to engine model

Qualifications/Requirements

  • High school diploma and/or relevant engine experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge of required tools & equipment, such as borescopes, manometers, fluke meters, dial indicators, torque wrenches, gas analyzers and hand tools
  • Strong knowledge and ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Instrumentation and Control background is an asset
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives and demonstrate problem solving skills
  • Team player who is accountable for teams’ success, when meeting business objectives and taking responsibility for decisions and outcomes
  • Ability to adapt and be successful at handling multiple tasks
  • High attention to detail in achieving thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing tasks
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours/shifts
  • Able to meet physical and cognitive demands assessment, inclusive of lifting a minimum weight of 40lbs
