The Jane Goodall Institute USA seeks a Manager of Development Operations to be based in USA Headquarters office in Washington, DC. The Manager of Development Operations, reporting to the Senior Director of Development Operations, is responsible for leading database management and optimization of key Development systems for the department, oversee the quality and confidentiality of donor data, and manage analytics and reporting to ensure data-drive decision making.
Collaborating with the Development team and other teams across the Institute, this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing JGI’s donor data and reporting strategies to ensure decisions across the team are data-driven. The candidate will be integral in advancing the Institute’s fundraising goals.

Work Responsibilities
MANAGEMENT OF DEVELOPMENT DATABASE (50%)
· Serve as primary CRM administrator for Development’s database of record, Salesforce. Managing the database to maintain accurate and comprehensive data, and optimize its usage across the Development team.
· Conceptualize, build, and monitor the flow of data within the Development ecosystem and through other JGI systems, external systems, ensuring efficient process as well as accurate data into/out of the CRM.
· Serve as a subject matter expert for the applications within the Development ecosystem.
· Create and document protocols and procedures for best-in-class consistent database practices.
· Manage role-based access and staff training on all Development systems and develop instructions and trainings to ensure full adoption by staff.
· Develop and maintain guidelines, data and technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization priorities, identifying problems, evaluating trends, anticipating requirements, and integrating that knowledge to create and implement systems that work.
· Manage, test, and update application configuration and monitor system functionality, usability, and uptime; work with system users to identify issues, find solutions, and communicate timely resolution.
· Working closely with the Senior Director of Development Operations, manage the relationships with external vendors and partners, including data vendors for data integrity and quality control, ensuring adherence to data strategy and protocols.
· Regularly research and monitor emerging solutions in the industry for their viability and potential to improve systems support of Development goals.
MANAGEMENT OF QUALITY OF DONOR DATA (30%)
· Proactively lead regular database hygiene and maintenance efforts ensuring a high level of data integrity, including duplicate record management, membership level and management, NCOA/ECOA, research and updates of specific datasets, periodic audits, etc.
· Develop strategies for monitoring and maintaining the completeness and accuracy of donor records.
· Work with major stakeholders within the organization to establish policies and timelines revolving around the cleaning of data, including the removal of non-engaged contacts.
· Develop policies and procedures to maintain accurate donor records reflecting all gifts and key communications.
· In partnership with key Development team members, oversee gift processing policies and procedures to ensure gift entry happens accurately and in accordance with donor’s intent and related best practices including setting standards for gift documentation.
· In collaboration with the Specialist of Donor Services and the Finance team, develop strategies to reconcile gifts in Salesforce in preparation for month-end close. Support in identifying reclasses and ensuring those reclasses are reflected in Salesforce.
· Serve as a reviewer during the gift processing process to ensure accuracy and allow for accountability.
MANAGEMENT OF ANALYTICS AND LIST MANAGEMENT (20%)
· Create and manage suite of standing Development reports as well as standing lists of donors for outreach to be pulled and delivered daily, weekly, monthly, and annually.
· Partner with the Senior Director of Development Operations to create executive and board level reports as needed.
· In partnership with key Development team members, develop, document, and oversee the list management policies and procedures to ensure data pulls are accurate, documented, and delivered on time.
· Strengthen the culture of data and technology throughout the organization through strong user engagement, accurate data, analytics, and reporting.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred
4+ years as a systems professional with strong proficiency with Salesforce.
Experience with progressive levels of responsibility with donor data systems with demonstrated success of optimizing systems functionality.
Absolute discretion and personal integrity in maintaining a high standard of confidentiality and sensitivity with prospect and donor information.
Additional Characteristics and Attributes

Experience with conservation and environmental organizations preferred.
Proficiency with fundraising application such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Classy, Omatic tools, etc.
Advanced and accurate word processing and spreadsheet capabilities (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
Strong analytical and problem-solving capacity with the ability to spot issues within data and systems and proactively fix them or identify possible solutions.
Successful experience working collaboratively with colleagues across multiple diverse teams and all levels of staff to advance JGI’s fundraising efforts.
Committed to driving activity that achieves or exceeds individual and team goals.
Must be organized and capable of prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be energetic, self-directed, detail-oriented, and able to work confidently and successfully in a fun, fast-paced development operation.
