ABOUT THE ROLE

The overall goal of the Manager, Business Development Associate Team is to develop, manage, and lead a team of Business Development Associates (BDAs) with their primary efforts centered on generating and closing business deals that are focused on renewable energy certificates (RECs), carbon credits, renewable energy advisory services, and climate strategy advisory services. The BDA team focuses on top of the funnel inbound and outbound activities, and also provides account management and pipeline support to the broader business development team and 3Degrees clients.
This position is open to remote candidates residing in the United States, and reports to the Senior Director of Business Partnerships, North America.
WHAT YOU’LL DODay-to-day responsibilities include training, developing, and supporting BDA team members by improving team efficiency and effectiveness, conceptualizing and overseeing the execution of outreach to clients and potential clients, and will include, but not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Manage, mentor, and hire BDA team members
- Collaborate closely with Senior Director of Business Partnerships, North America on initiatives to achieve quarterly and annual sales targets
- Oversee BDA-driven communications with clients and potential clients. This includes writing and reviewing email copy, overseeing tactical execution, and ongoing measurement
- Ensure the adoption and adherence to the 3Degrees qualification and sales processes
- Oversee inbound lead and referral qualification process. Provide continuous measurement and improvement
- Develop and enhance the team’s sales enablement toolkit and resources in partnership with the business operations team
- Contribute to market research and targeting strategies. Refine, implement, and measure results over time
- Oversee the execution of account management tasks handled by the BDA team. Help to implement processes that maximize client satisfaction, retention, and expansion
- Collaborate effectively with business operations, marketing, contracting, and other internal partners
ABOUT YOUYou are a highly motivated individual with a passion for helping clients achieve renewable energy and climate goals. You are resourceful, strategic and proactive in your approach to problem-solving, and are exceptionally organized. You have a proven track record of successfully managing and mentoring a B2B sales/account management team, ideally one that includes top of the funnel responsibility. We believe you will be successful in this role if you possess the following skills and experience:
- Minimum of 5 years sales, business development, or client account management experience
- Minimum of 2 years people management experience with direct reports in the areas of sales, business development, and/or client account management
- A passion to assist commercial clients in tackling climate change and supporting their efforts to rapidly decarbonize business operations. Renewable energy, carbon credit, and/or sustainability industry experience preferred
- Experience training, managing, and mentoring sales/account management team members to contribute to both new customer acquisition as well as existing customer expansion and retention
- Experience with change management and establishing productive relationships with direct reports
- Proven ability to effectively lead a team, communicate with the stakeholders, define project goals, and see a project through to closure
- Ability to conceptualize and implement effective prospect and client communications, and be a skilled manager of tactical and operational details
- Experience with B2B sales models and value-based selling methodologies
- Experience conceptualizing sales outreach efforts, writing email copy, and overseeing tactical execution
- Proven ability to implement process and efficiency improvements, measure results, and continuously improve systems and processes
- BA/BS degree
HOW WE DEFINE SUCCESS****Within 60 days
- You will have a firm understanding of 3Degrees’ products, services, sales structure and processes and key tools (Salesforce, Groove, Google Drive, etc.)
Within 6 months
- You will be proficient in the key tasks of the role, able to independently manage your team’s work, create and implement new campaigns, and implement new processes
Within 9 months
- You will have expanded those competencies to include a deeper understanding of our products and markets and will be making strategic recommendations
Within 1 year
- You will have learned all aspects of our commercial business and will be a respected leader on our commercial team. You will also be providing key input on 3Degrees commercial strategy as it evolves beyond 2023
