The Role: Sensus USA seeks to hire an Industrial/Manufacturing Engineer intern as a member of the Manufacturing Operations team.  The selected candidate will assist with processes development, methods, labor standards and productivity improvement support.  Knowledge of classical IE functions and Lean/Six Sigma required.  Experience in manufacturing assembly preferred. The position will be located at the Uniontown, PA facility.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Interest in manufacturing processes, process yields, process costs, and operations.
  • Monitor process yields and cost, recommending and implementing quality improvements.
  • Perform time studies as needed for direct and indirect labor operations.
  • Develop and update production work instructions.
  • Maintain work cell and overall facility layout drawings with AutoCad.
  • Provide project support as needed in a team environment with production, quality, engineering, and other departments.

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Attending a local accredited University studying towards a BS in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.  Minimum rising junior in good standing.
  • Excellent PC skills preferred with working knowledge of MS Office and AutoCad required.
  • Basic knowledge and/or training in 5S, Lean/Six Sigma, statistical tools preferred.
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling (Creo) a plus.
  • Ability to work and communicate in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Experience with manufacturing assembly or electronic assembly a plus.

  • Light lifting (20-25 lbs.)
  • Daily walking both to and from the office and throughout the manufacturing areas is necessary based upon specific daily job demands.

  • Office/Mfg. Plant: 50/50
  • Office Area: Typical climate-controlled office environment requiring the use of standard office equipment.
  • Manufacturing Area: Subject to loud noises, moving machinery and equipment, and climate changes. Safety glasses are required. Hearing protection may be required in certain areas.
  • Standard weekly job hours: 40 hours. Overtime may be required based upon job demands.
