Position:                        Innovation and New Partnerships Lead

Location:                       ActionAid (AA) Global Secretariat (GS) Hub: London, Johannesburg, Nairobi, Amsterdam or in a location where AA has an office

Contract duration:       Fixed term contract for 3 years

Entry Salary:                 Grade E, starting at GBP 59,000 per annum plus benefits.

The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an Innovation and New Partnerships Lead who wants to help expand AA’s growing funding partnership portfolio, joining an organisation that works to help people harness their own power to achieve a feminist, just, green transition in the 45 countries where ActionAid works.

You will develop and lead funding planning for ActionAid International’s (AAI’s) 2022-25 thematic priorities (climate justice and economic justice), including an overall global programme strategy and plan.  You will also lead on funding innovation, exploring new or untested funding approaches, playing a change management role in helping the organisation adapt to these new approaches.

Who we're looking for:

You should hold a master’s degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, Development Studies, Human Rights, Political / Social Science or other relevant discipline or have equivalent experience. You should have experience of funding intelligence analysis, identifying trends and using this information to make recommendations on approaches; experience in developing programme funding strategies and plans. Substantial experience in business development, proposal development and grant management & compliance requirements, including research and contacts, developing strategic fundraising innovation ideas with an entrepreneurial spirit and working with a wide range of donors. You should have experience of working in programmes teams or alongside them to ensure programme-led funding and experience of building skills and capabilities of other staff.

In addition to this, knowledge of global aid and institutional, trusts & foundations and corporate funding sectors as well as a good understanding of and keen interest in recent innovations in NGO programmes, advocacy, campaigning, and movement- building. We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment, often remotely.

It is critical that you have experience of managing conflicting and tight deadlines, prioritising own workload and with minimal supervision.

You should also have strong commitment to ActionAid’s values and ethos, including ActionAid’s feminist leadership principles.
