WHO WE ARE
The Alliance for Decision Education is a nonprofit organization that is driving a revolutionary shift in the way that we think about education. Our mission is to improve lives by empowering students with essential skills and dispositions for making better decisions. We are driven by this mission, supported by science, and backed by a growing list of global luminaries and leaders.
The decisions we make shape our lives and those of the people around us. There is not a more important set of skills that we can teach today’s youth than how to approach decision-making. That is what we aim to do.
The Alliance is committed to an inclusive, supportive, and collaborative culture. Our team is made up of diverse, dedicated, and driven educators, researchers, subject matter experts, and other professionals who have come from different backgrounds for a common purpose. We are a proud Equal Opportunity Employer.
WHAT WE OFFER
Employees receive a comprehensive total rewards package which includes: competitive compensation that is commensurate with experience, employer-paid medical, vision, and dental premiums for both the employee and their dependents, a 401(k) plan with a dollar-for-dollar match up to 5%, generous paid time off (PTO), equipment and supplies to work remotely, and additional resources to help employees do their best work.
JOB OVERVIEW
In the last 3+ years, the Alliance has expanded significantly – both in staff size as well as our efforts to bring Decision Education to schools across the country. Currently, our portfolio of education initiatives provides a variety of entry points for national classroom implementation of Decision Education for teachers and students – we run pilot programs, fellowships, online courses, and a variety of whole school initiatives to expand awareness of and provide support for the integration of Decision Education into subject area classrooms everywhere. The field is growing and teachers are asking for curriculum and resources, which we are eager to deliver. We have a vision for building a comprehensive and free platform for student curriculum that uses the best of paper and digital media to support our initiatives. We are looking for an accomplished edtech leader to join us and lead this work as the Head of Product.
This position marks the beginning of our expanded effort to build an edtech team within our larger Education department. They will report to the Director of Education and will oversee all aspects of development, including the design of a robust product strategy that will serve as a roadmap for our short- and long-term curriculum development goals.
The Head of Product will work to envision a product staffing plan of designers, engineers, and subject matter experts that will lead the development of a best-in-class web-based curriculum that can be implemented in any subject-area classroom. This is an exciting opportunity for a deep-thinking edtech leader to drive influence at a mission-driven organization with ambitious goals to build a new type of curriculum for students and teachers alike. We envision a platform-based curriculum that is the best of digital technology with paper supports that can be integrated by all teachers, regardless of subject area, and places students in the driver seat of decision-making activities where they apply decision-making concepts and skills to real-world scenarios. We’re inspired by the design of Desmos, the accessibility of Amplify, and the agileness of Zearn.
This individual may be local or remote. Remote hires will be expected to travel into the office occasionally.
