About the Job:

This Part-Time Group Facilitator position is part of the Family Support Team and will facilitate Parent Support Groups and workshops for moms enrolled in Family Support and Housing at New Moms. This position will collaborate with the other Family Support Specialists to provide comprehensive services in an integrated program as well as the rest of the staff to provide seamless high-quality services. The Group Support Facilitator will champion all New Moms values including our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, in both strategic planning and performance. This is a part-time, 20 hour per week position, and works at our Oak Park and Chicago offices.

Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week, including at least two 4-hour evening shifts and one 8-hour day shift

Hourly wage: $22 - $24/hour

Key Job Responsibilities:

Planning and Group Facilitation (95%)

  • Facilitates groups and Implements group curriculum that meets Parents as Teachers guidelines
  • Facilitate weekly Parent Support Group, biweekly life skills, and biweekly Parent/Child Activity group
  • Works in tandem with other New Moms staff to integrate services across the Agency; collaborating with staff and other collateral sources on specific case-related issues
  • Makes all preparations for parent support group meetings including communication/ marketing, curriculum preparation, meals and transportation
  • Performs written and electronic recordkeeping functions as required for both internal and external databases on a timely basis according to agency policy
  • Works to consistently ensure program compliance is met in each group under the direction of supervisor working to maximize participant retention as well as program safety
  • Coordinates participant surveys and program evaluations

Other (5%)

  • Upholds the New Moms’ Executive Skills Coaching approach which is grounded in racial equity
  • Regularly participates in agency and program staff meetings, as well as professional group seminars or conferences to enhance professional knowledge and job skills as appropriate

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling and guidance, rehabilitation counseling, social work, psychology, pastoral counseling, family therapy, children and families or related human service field required
  • Group facilitation experience
  • Must be available for two 4-hour evening shifts and one 8-hour day shift
  • Experience in the use of personal computers and Microsoft software applications
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, projects, and deadlines concurrently
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team approach model, taking individual responsibility and autonomy while serving as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license, with safe driving record and valid insurance
  • Access to a car and/or ability to use public transportation required
