The National Audubon Society is hiring a
INTERNATIONAL POSITION BASED OUT OF COLOMBIA.
The National Audubon Society (Audubon) protects birds and the places they need today and tomorrow. Through the Americas we use science, advocacy, education, and on-the-ground conservation to create a world in which people and wildlife thrive.
Audubon’s mission is more urgent today than ever before. Natural habitats are disappearing at an alarming rate. Protection for birds and other wildlife, natural places, and clean air and water are in jeopardy.
By connecting the work of the Audubon network-chapters, nature centers, staff and volunteers along the flyways of the Americas, Audubon weaves a seamless web of conservation across the hemisphere. The network includes 23 state programs, 43 Audubon centers and sanctuaries, nearly 500 local chapters, and more than 30 international partners. All working together for a common goal.
Latin America and the Caribbean have experienced rapid economic growth in the recent years, and global demand on natural resources, as well as a changing climate, are bringing unprecedented changes to how people in those areas live. If conservation efforts are not well integrated into the region’s demands for economic growth and development, it will have a devastating effect on the environment, and will limit the possibility of sustainable growth and improved quality of life for its people. At stake is more than 40 percent of the world’s biodiversity, including more than 4,200 species of birds. At least 380 of these bird species are neo-tropical migrants shared with the United States that spend half or more of their entire lives in Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean.
Audubon Americas (AA) is increasing its presence, partnerships and investments to help secure the conservation of the bird’s habitats in Latin America and the Caribbean and Canada. Audubon is a Birdlife International partner in the USA.
