Location: The successful candidate may be based in a country where one of the independent National/Regional Greenpeace organisations (NRO’s) is located. See the locations HERE**.** [Please note that we are currently unable to host new staff in a number of NRO's at this present time, due to various restrictions. We are unable to support hosting in the US at this time, in addition to some other NRO locations. The International Technology Department at Greenpeace International (GPI) delivers technology and data solutions that enable the Greenpeace network to win campaigns and engage with millions of people around the world.

The team is now looking for a Product Manager for our global, fully open-source, in-house developed content management technology (please click HERE for more information about Planet 4), to help the global network achieve engagement and impact through the provision of engagement technologies.

Reporting to the Head of Engagement Systems, you’ll work closely with the global product team, local National/Regional Organisation (NRO) leadership and other staff practitioners around the globe. Taking ownership of a global technology which powers Greenpeace websites around the world, you will provide inspiring, inclusive leadership to equip the Greenpeace community to use technology at its full potential. You will play an essential global networking role, ensuring great collaboration with and between National/Regional Offices (NROs) and the international product teams.

In this role you will:

  • act as responsible for the delivery of the short and long term vision of the product, serving as a point of collaboration between the NRO community and the Greenpeace International team to gather, communicate and validate requirements, and ensure that these are delivered to a coherent plan.

  • engage with communities of NRO practitioners to ensure best utilization of systems, constant evaluation of ideas and needs, review the performance and suitability of the product against requirements

  • support projects to implement major updates or brand new product(s), ensuring that NROs have the best experience possible when adopting a system to maximise the potential for successful outcomes.

  • provide line management and leadership to members of the product team.

  • Communicate product features, capabilities and benefits through presentations, architecture diagrams, graphics/illustrations, videos, solution guides, case studies, blog posts, etc.

  • Promote local NRO innovations and developments that improve or extend product utility, and identify and encourage product champions who emerge from the practitioner community

Job requirements

**What we’re looking for:**Remember no one has every skill or experience needed for this role and you’ll have the opportunity to learn a lot from the team. We believe someone who has a few of these is well suited to excel:

  • Substantial demonstrable experience of successfully developing and delivering engagement systems

  • Strong expertise in using and improving Content Management Systems (CMS) as products (experience with large-scale Wordpress-based platforms represents a strong plus)

  • Experience with Experience with Agile / Scrum, experience as a Scrum Product Manager represents a strong plus

  • Expertise with open-source processes, practices or projects represents a strong plus.

  • Highly competent in understanding and communicating user requirements

  • Proven ability to work with technical staff and understand the details of what they are doing

  • Superb writing, communication and public speaking skills, especially in translating complex technical information into easy-to-consume content

  • High energy, charismatic, innovative, creative

  • Collaborative. Proven ability to work cross functionally and informally to achieve overall business objectives

  • Experience of working within an international and culturally diverse environment

  • Proficient in English, both verbal and written, and preferably one other foreign language

  • Ability and willingness to accommodate up to 25% travel

  • Ability to demonstrate support for and belief in Greenpeace core aims and values
