The Opportunity

At an incredibly exciting time of growth for Flashfood, we’re looking for a driven and well-networked Director of Communications to build our communications function from the ground up.

Who You Are

An experienced comms leader with a keen sense of strategy, hungry for a new challenge. You bring proven experience leading a communications function in a high-growth context. You’ve got a passion for food and for people, and care deeply about building a high-performance culture that lifts others up. Throughout your life, you have a history of exceeding expectations - whatever that may look like.

What You’ll Do

• Craft Flashfood’s overall communications strategy, helping to move Flashfood’s brand and mission forward and creating meaningful connections with shoppers, grocery partners and employees
• Be responsible for big-picture thinking and high-level execution for both internal and external audiences, managing agency partners and working cross-functionally across the organization
• Maintain a steady drumbeat of national and regional PR initiatives, finding creative ways to tell Flashfood’s story to reach new shoppers and grocers and deliver on quarterly OKRs
• Lead all internal communications, embracing modern formats to engage a remote team around goals, progress, new initiatives and other ongoing efforts
• Lead crisis communications and establish processes to ensure organizational readiness
• Help to craft the vision for Flashfood’s evolving ESG and community engagement work
• Provide strategic guidance and support to senior leadership on how to craft narratives and develop compelling content to inspire their own teams and the broader company

What You’ll Bring to the Team

• A minimum of 10 years' experience and a demonstrated track record of success in a comm leadership position with a high-growth company
• A roll-up-your-sleeves attitude, meticulous attention to detail, and an ability to understand and communicate the company’s mission and impact
• Experience managing all levels of stakeholders and a track record of working with executive leadership and externals stakeholders such as clients and investors
• Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with top tier reporters and editors
• Excellent people and project management skills, with the ability to inspire while managing multiple time-sensitive projects under tight deadlines;
• An ability to travel as needed, and willingness to be available nights/weekends in times of crisis as needed
• Specific experience in food, grocery and/or tech industries, ideally in B2C
