Credit Risk Analyst

ABOUT THE ROLE

If you are passionate about assessing and identifying risks that could impede the reputation, financial success, and security of an organization, then this is an opportunity for you to join a developing risk management team, within a growing B Corp.  3Degrees is focused on helping organizations around the world rise to the challenge of taking urgent action on climate change, and to support our growth, we are seeking an experienced credit risk analyst who is looking to bring their analytical and quantitative skills to help our company grow while taking prudent risk.

_This is a full-time position preferably located in San Francisco, CA or Portland, OR, and will report to the Director of Risk Management.  A remote office, located in other parts of the United States, with agreement to travel for training and collaboration, will be considered for highly qualified candidates.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

This role is responsible for analyzing credit of foreign and domestic customers and giving valuable input to senior management based on your analysis. Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Assess credit worthiness of US and international customers and trading counterparties through analysis of public information, Know Your Customer (KYC) documents and financial statements
  • Recommend credit terms and conditions within customer and wholesale commodity contracts
  • Responsible for recommending credit risk limits and presenting credit risk decisions and recommendations to the Risk Management Committee (RMC)
  • Monitor current and potential exposures and recommend adequate credit mitigation
  • Track both inbound and outbound collateral and coordinate margining activities
  • Monitor credit exposures and ensure adherence to risk policy guidelines
  • Maintain and enhance credit reporting tools to highlight top counterparty and credit concentration risk
  • Work closely with commercial, trading and finance teams to improve credit risk monitoring
  • Assist in other risk department initiatives

  • 5+ years working in a credit risk environment (preferred experience in trading of commodities and/or financial securities)
  • In-depth knowledge of credit and risk management fundamentals
  • Experience performing financial analysis of companies towards measuring its creditworthiness
  • Understanding of financial instruments, markets and hedging techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated with excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Excellent quantitative, modeling and analytical skills
  • Professional certifications like FRM, PRM, CFA are recommended
  • Experience in renewable energy commodity markets is a plus
  • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related degree

Within 30 days

  • Developed an understanding of the company structure, products, and risk policies and an appreciation for the unique risk profile of the company
  • Successfully establish relationships with key stakeholders across risk management, finance, trading and commercial teams

Within 90 days

  • Take ownership of credit reviews and counterparty monitoring and exposure reporting
  • Actively participate and contribute towards various risk initiatives

Within 6 months

  • Be the point of contact for credit risk related items within the organization
  • Be a champion of best practices in credit risk management processes, tools and systems
  • Design and implement key risk indicators that accurately reflect the credit risk in the portfolio

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Salary: The minimum and maximum salary for this position is $89,910 to $135,200 in the US. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, role requirements, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise
  • Supplemental Cash Compensation Pay: this position is eligible for discretionary bonus programs including the company’s profit sharing program and an annual performance bonus based on personal, department and company goals.
