JOB OVERVIEW

The Copy Editing Manager will be responsible for creating, editing, and reviewing a variety of internal and external communications. They will significantly improve content by revising language and ensuring consistent messaging and voice across Alliance documents.

The Copy Editing Manager will report to the Interim Director of Communications as a part of the Communications Department, which is responsible for driving awareness and creating demand for Decision Education across the nation.

We expect this individual to adhere to the Alliance’s hybrid work schedule, working both remotely and from our office in Bala Cynwyd, PA. We will consider full-time remote employees who are not local to our office with the expectation that they will travel into the office occasionally.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and revise content for accuracy and quality, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax.
  • Ensure that content uses the correct language, tone, voice, clarity, flow, and structure by adhering to the Alliance Style Guide and messaging track.
  • Communicate and collaborate across departments to ensure that content is published in a timely manner.
  • Update the Alliance Style Guide as necessary as we learn more from the field.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure written content in various formats and layouts is edited and accurate (e.g. web text, designed digital documents, letters, printed materials, etc.).
  • Help to create a robust content creation plan while producing content to introduce the Alliance and Decision Education to the general public.
  • These duties may change or expand over time consistent with our organization’s initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience and Skills
    • 5+ years of experience as an Editor, Copy Editor, Copywriter, or similar positions
    • Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or similar field preferred, but not required
    • Experience with and knowledge of publishing software
    • Effective and efficient writing and editing skills
    • Experience or interest in education/non-profit is preferred, but not required
