Contract and Project Manager, TPT

The post-holder will lead on contract management and project administrative support to the Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT) Secretariat, as well as wider project management across E3G.

Background to E3G

E3G is an independent climate change think tank with a global outlook. We are world leading strategists on the political economy of climate change, dedicated to achieving a safe climate for all.

E3G provides (jointly with UK CGFI) the Secretariat to the Transition Plan Taskforce. The TPT was launched by HM Treasury in April 2022 to develop a gold standard for private sector climate transition plans. More information on the TPT can be found at www.transitiontaskforce.net.

Role purpose

The primary purpose of this role will be to support the TPT Secretariat with awarding and managing contracts between E3G and third party suppliers who will provide advice and support to the Transition Plan Taskforce during 2023.

In addition the post-holder will be asked to provide broader project management and administrative support to the TPT Secretariat team on an ad hoc basis as required, e.g. event organisation, meeting scheduling, travel booking and inbox management, and to contribute to the overall work of the E3G Project Management Office to embed high quality operational management through the organisation.

This will be a short-term contract starting as soon as practical and ending no later than 31st December 2023.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the TPT Secretariat and with E3G Operations team to ensure that contracts with third party suppliers are awarded with clear specifications in a timely way and with suitable counterparties, in accordance with E3G policies, and with appropriate due diligence conducted during the contracting process.
  • Supporting TPT Secretariat team members to manage contracts with third party suppliers consistently and effectively in order to ensure that deliverables are produced on time and to the required specifications. Work with E3G Operations team to ensure that contractors are paid in a timely way in line with agreed payment schedules. Provide support to the team in the case of any contractual dispute.
  • Organise events such as stakeholder roundtables on behalf of the TPT Secretariat, working with the Communications Manager. This would include finding and booking venues with appropriate facilities, managing invitations and attendance, and communicating with attendees.
  • Schedule meetings between TPT Secretariat team members and external stakeholders. This would include managing calendars including communicating with counterparties to find suitable meeting times/dates, and booking rooms.
  • Manage the TPT Secretariat mailbox and ensure that incoming emails are dealt with in an appropriate and timely way.
  • Help to embed high quality project management practices in E3G working with the E3G Project Management Office.

Person description

You will be able to manage several discrete projects simultaneously and to balance competing deadlines. You are an intellectually curious and highly organised self-starter with a strong interest in (and preferably some prior experience of) the opportunities and challenges around climate change. You are a creative thinker, able to learn fast and to work flexibly with a range of people. You are prepared to go the extra mile to deliver high quality outputs to challenging deadlines. You are confident engaging with large numbers of stakeholders and ensuring high quality outcomes.

Experience and skills

Required experience

  • Experience of contract award and management in a working environment, preferably also with some level of professional training/qualification in this field.

Desired experience

  • Experience of event organisation, meeting scheduling and/or inbox management for example through previous work as a Personal Assistant, or Team Coordinator.
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders in different sectors, preferably including financial institutions and companies.
  • Experience of working in the climate change space, for private, public or third sector organisations

We offer a competitive remuneration package for a non-profit organisation based on qualifications and experience.

We will consider employing this post-holder on either a staff or a consultancy basis. The role is envisaged to be full-time but we will consider applications for part-time or flexible working.

Location

This role is anticipated to be based in London, but requests for flexible working in the UK will be considered.
