Program Overview
P4G – Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 – is a multistakeholder initiative hosted by WRI with the aim to contribute to in-country climate transitions in ODA-eligible countries. It does so by providing grants, technical assistance and government support to green growth partnerships to become investment ready, contributing to partner countries’ capacity to improve the enabling systems, and sharing these learnings with P4G countries and beyond. The partnerships are between private businesses and nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) to advance local early stage businesses that contribute to in-country climate and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) priorities in specific sub-sectors including: reducing food and waste, climate-smart agriculture, clean water and sanitation, renewable energy, and electric mobility.
P4G partner countries include: Colombia, Denmark, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, the Netherlands, the Republic of Korea, South Africa, and Vietnam. Each partner country establishes a National Platform to engage relevant country stakeholders and progress partnerships. P4G is managed by a Global Hub hosted by WRI.
Ethiopia has been a founding member of P4G since the launch of the P4G in 2018, P4G Ethiopia. The Ethiopian P4G National Platform is hosted by the Ethiopia Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and is co-chaired by the EPA and the Ethiopia Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (ECCSA). The National Platform has facilitated five rounds of annual P4G call for partnerships which resulted engagement of various P4G partnerships in the country that support Ethiopia’s transition towards an inclusive and greener economy.
