Principal Functions and Purpose of the position:
- Work on the “Wetland Incubator’ project that will bring together conservationists, youth, scientists, academics, and other stakeholders to form 'Conservation Action Teams' to find solutions to pressing challenges facing our wetlands and to find solutions to secure the future of our flyways.
- Develop and carry out research and engagement activities for the “Wetland Incubator’ project by working with stakeholders and action teams.
- Assist monitoring and research work at Mai Po, including field survey, data analysis, report-writing, etc.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with the Monitoring and Research Team of Mai Po Nature Reserve to develop and implement research activities, including data collection, data management, analysis, and reporting for the “Wetland Incubator” project.
- Support communicating with project key stakeholders, particularly expert groups, to develop the partnership.
- Carry out research and activities with different stakeholders and action teams.
- Support the creation and development of project engagement journey and training workshops.
- Assist in organising project events/ activities.
- Contribute to the ideation of project actions.
- Assist in project administrative works.
- Assist other monitoring and research programmes at the Mai Po Nature Reserve.
General Requirements:
- Degree holder in Ecology, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or any discipline related to conservation.
- Relevant working experience in stakeholder engagement and education. Experience in leading outdoor activities/ engagement experience related to nature conservation or appreciation, or project planning and implementation will also be considered.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and GIS skill is highly preferred.
- Self-motivated and able to make plans well in advance.
- A team player with good organizing, communication, and interpersonal skills. Able to accept personal and team responsibility, and shows civility and respect to colleagues.
- Fluent in Cantonese, Putonghua, and English.
- Physically fit to conduct and lead outdoor activities and willing to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Working during weekends and holidays will be required as per the working schedule.
