About Us

Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a dynamic, international non-governmental organization. We work with people affected by violent conflicts to enhance their security and dignity through unarmed civilian protection (UCP). We work to reduce violence and protect civilians in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath and to help transform the world’s response to conflict situations.

Job Summary

This is part time (20 hours/week) position and will serve on the U.S. program team, with responsibilities primarily in the North Minneapolis area. NP in the Twin Cities is relocating to North Minneapolis in the coming months and this position will be based at the new office and in the North community more generally. The goal of the position is to increase awareness of using nonviolence to resolve conflict, to illustrate how nonviolent and unarmed approaches are skills that can be taught to others, and to reach out to people of influence in local community to create positive change related to ongoing conflicts. This may include representing NP at local community events, providing training to community members interested in enhancing their skills, and mentoring young people who may be at risk or feeling pressure to use violence rather than nonviolence to resolve conflicts in their schools and neighborhoods. The position will have guidance and support from the NP program team and their direct supervisor.

We believe that systemic inequality disproportionately hurts the most marginalized people in society, including Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC), people from working-class backgrounds, women, and LGBTQ people. Because NP believes that these communities must be centered in the work we do in reducing violence arising due to racism, we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or who are members of other marginalized communities.
