Energy & Environment, one of Ricardo plc’s five operating business units, is a leader in sustainability consultancy, solving complex environmental challenges through industry-leading analysis, advice and data. With more than 40 years of heritage in addressing air quality, environmental and sustainability issues, our customers value us for our deep understanding and breadth of services covering the entire value chain from evidence, policy & strategy to implementation.

We are currently looking for a Communications Specialist to join our Communications and Engagement team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive multi-channel communication campaigns for key customer programmes.
• Content creation for traditional and digital channels, including websites, social media, publications, videos and news articles.
• Content management of websites.
• Use of analytics to evaluate and improve campaign delivery.
• Liaise with a wide range of internal and external customers, including agency management.

Key competencies and experience

• Excellent communication and presentation skills – you are comfortable engaging with internal and external stakeholders (irrespective of level of the organisation).
• Good understanding of analytics and reporting.
• Good attention to detail.
• In-depth understanding of different communication channels and tactics, particularly social media.
• Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills. Capable of developing effective content that engages audiences.
• Strong computer / software literacy – you are proficient using a wide range of core general (e.g. Office) and marketing specific (e.g. email automation and CMS) programmes and feel comfortable learning new ones.

Skills and behaviours

• Enthusiastic and flexible, you are passionate about communications work in all its forms.
• A proactive and engaged member of the communications team – you enjoy being part of a team and value building close relationships with team members.
• Good organisational and planning skills. Comfortable multi-tasking and working on multiple projects and programmes at the same time.

Desirable

• Experience of delivering UK Government, Horizon2020 or European Commission programme communications work packages.
