The role
We are looking for an individual with strong hands-on experience writing impactful content for diverse audiences globally. You will have the opportunity to design, build and implement a compelling content portfolio that leverages our brand identity, global positioning and values to engage both existing and new audiences.
Reporting to the Communications Director, the successful candidate will create and curate content and communications plans to be used across a number of channels, delivering to key objectives including customer education, engagement, advocacy, inbound marketing traffic and leads. This is a hugely exciting role for any communications expert, allowing you the creative scope to build on an already highly engaged and loyal audience, showcase your excellent storytelling skills, as well as, identifying new initiatives that you will be able to lead and own from initial idea through to go live.
The role offers the scope to become a key player in the future development of our brand communications.
This is a full time, permanent role which can be based anywhere in the UK (home based) or in our London office.
As our Communications Manager, you will:
- Develop and produce engaging, informative, and educational content for our Social Media platforms, marketing collateral (digital and print), website, email marketing campaigns and sales teams and in particular building our brand level communications
- Manage a pipeline of content including video, photo and written stories and testimonials from across the organization (alumni, employers, funders, delivery partners, contributors, participants etc.) for use in multichannel campaigns
- Work with Common Purpose alumni, globally, to create powerful impact stories
- Create larger content projects that showcase our brand and our thought leadership
- Grow our brand presence through innovative communication strategies
- Work with our brand assets and maintain brand quality standards as well as analyze and resolve any related branding issues promptly
- Coach other teams and staff on how to create effective written content
Essential Requirements
- Excellent copywriting and storytelling skills with the ability to see different points of view and bring a story to life. You will be curious, able to put yourself in the shoes of your audience and explain sometimes complex topics in a clear, interesting and persuasive manner
- Experience in developing compelling integrated communications across internal and external stakeholders, with the ability to work cross functionally and build strong internal relationships.
- A natural storyteller with an understanding of tone of voice, brand character and style. Able to demonstrate and communicate an understanding of what makes great engaging content
- Comfortable being a champion and coach for your areas of responsibility
- Experience in customer communications, member communications or marketing communications would be advantageous.
- Good time management and self-organization skills – with the flexibility to flex and pivot in a high growth and pace environment
- Excellent written English, oral communication, and interpersonal skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Results orientated with natural problem-solving skills
- Resourceful, entrepreneurial and able to work on own initiative
- A collaborative team-player, while also able to work well independently
- A portfolio of work that supports your experience
- Must be willing to travel when required

- A competitive salary of between £32,000 - £36,000 per annum pro rata, depending on level of experience
