COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

The Communications Coordinator will help support the day-to-day operations and output of LibGen’s communications work. Reporting directly to the Communications Director, this position will mostly serve the administrative needs of the department and will also monitor — and help execute — ongoing communications strategies. From providing project management support to drafting organizational materials, such as the newsletters and content for social media, the Communications Coordinator will play a vital role in advancing the communications team’s short-term and long-range objectives.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations

  • Collaborate with Program Coordinator and Grassroots Relationship Manager to develop project management systems to support department output and bolster internal collaboration;
  • Own Communications Department’s aspects of those systems;
  • Oversee communications tools, such as a media database;
  • Schedule meetings for communications director and take notes;
  • Track and report key analytics, including news hits and social media stats;
  • Manage edits to LibGen’s websites, working with Program Coordinator as needed; and
  • Assist in creating a grant-reporting system as well as a donor engagement plan in partnership with Chief Strategy Officer and Program Coordinator.

Programmatic

  • Help build a database of core narratives for general communications as well as policy, grassroots, and operations initiatives;
  • Draft internal and external messaging materials, such as talking points, Instagram/TikTok content, and email newsletters;
  • Support media preparation for co-eds including press interviews and public speaking engagements; and
  • Provide event and storytelling support, such as overseeing tech logistics (extending organizational capacity beyond Program Coordinator) or leading content collection.

REQUIREMENTS

The candidate must have demonstrated project management experience, as well as strong oral and written communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of two years of communications experience in an office setting, preferably a nonprofit space.
  • Some knowledge of racial economic justice and structural racism is ideal, and a background in organizing or advocacy is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines on time, with strong attention to detail.
  • High level of comfort working remotely and independently but also values a collaborative approach to work.
  • Ability to take initiative, use good judgment, and ask questions as needed.

POSITION TYPE

The Communications Coordinator is a full-time (100% FTE), exempt position.

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $65,000–$80,000. It comes with excellent benefits including paid vacation; health, vision, and dental insurance; and 401(k) retirement plan.

Please note: No phone calls please. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
