Background
ChildFund Sport for Development partners with organisations to provide children and young people with opportunities to play, learn, and lead.
Through integrated sport and life skills learning, young people from vulnerable communities are equipped to overcome challenges, inspire positive social change, and take active leadership roles within their communities.
All partnerships contribute to building an equitable and inclusive future, where children are safe from violence — reflecting targets within the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
ChildFund Sport for Development is led by ChildFund Australia, an independent international development organisation that works to reduce poverty for children in developing communities and a member of the ChildFund Alliance - a global network of 12 organisations which assists almost 23 million children and their families in 70 countries.
ChildFund Sport for Development have identified a need to provide an assessment tool for partner organisations to increase accountability and capacity to effectively engage vulnerable, marginalised and excluded populations as well as ensure safe and positive environments for all stakeholders. Furthermore, National Sports Governing Bodies, have an increasing need to improve practice in this area, in-line with International Olympic Committee inclusion principles.
The following needs have been identified as key to Sport for Development work delivering more inclusive programming:
