Position: Chief Financial Officer
Reporting to the President, The Chief Financial Officer serves as a member of the Executive Management Team and works closely with our Board and will bring deep knowledge of nonprofit accounting, reporting, compliance, and best practices to the organization. The CFO must be proactive, flexible, organized, have an eye for detail with a sense of urgency for deadlines as they will be responsible for transparent communication to the management team and Board.
With demonstrated experience and leadership, the CFO will be responsible for all phases of financial management, analysis, forecasting, reporting, audit, compliance, and instilling proper financials controls for the organization. They will be held accountable for managing federal and private grants, ensuring compliance with all Federal and state grant regulations in accordance to and with expertise in non-profit accounting best practices.
The CFO will be held accountable for preparing and maintaining all annual, quarterly, and monthly financial budgets, financial reporting, and reconciliations to keep a clean balance sheet and be a good steward of company resources. They will manage the program management reporting system, oversee compliance to procurement policy assuring proper payment and controls for all partners and vendors
The CFO will be responsible for leading, mentoring and managing a finance division consisting of 10.
Primary Duties:
Manage all facets of financial reporting and control including accounting, finance and procurement.
Prepare and provide all financial reports to ABC’s management team, President, Board, and government entities. Ensure that accounting is maintained according to GAAP and that all federal funds are kept compliant with latest OMB regulations.
Develop and lead the Program Management system for reporting on program measurements of budget, actuals, and analysis of variances. Create forecasts for annual revenue and expenses.
Manage all phases of the annual external audit.
Provide all financial reports for the Board of Directors and Management Committee. Act as Recording Secretary for Finance Committee of the ABC Board and provide financial reporting and analysis to support ABC Board and Committee requests. Produce all Treasury Reporting including Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Revenue recognition and funds balance analysis.
Manage the Annual Budget process and oversee the completion and presentation of the Annual Budget. Produce and maintain a monthly expense, revenue, and cash budget process.
Supervise a team of five finance professionals. Oversee all financial reports, proposal budgets, invoicing of customers, tracking of expenses, management of the ledger, analysis of balance sheet accounts, monthly reconciliations, investment account reporting and accounting, interaction with independent investment advisors, analysis of financial system needs, staff professional development, and prepare and maintain financial schedules for the yearly audit and tax return.
Provides strategic advice and counsel to the ABC President regarding ABC’s financial position and control, systems upgrades, audit postures, risk management, and the relevance of external financial policy changes and news to ABC.
Communicates clearly and regularly with President, Board Treasurer, and senior team on issues influencing ABC’s financial well-being. Provides updates to all staff on key topics.
